This whole draw thing sucks

I dont understand why there is a draw in the swiss stage, shouldnt it only be pre tournament and for the playoffs?

I mean G2 have literally lost against one good team and got rewarded with two 'easier' games and can reach playoffs, meanwhile liquid and NRG who both deserve to progress have to face each other and one has to go home? seems really unfair to me. Personally, It should have been predetermined that teams who drop from the 1-0 matchups should not face each other and should face one of the 0-1 teams.

Am i waffling? am i stupid? possibly

I dont understand what even went wrong with the initial draws in the first place they couldve just genuinely rectified it on stage or asked coaches if they were okay with the draws it was that simple

I immediately knew they were going to redraw it because they never do the draw in that order to build suspense for which team will face which.

Its not the hosts fault because Riot clearly didnt inform her, but the first two teams drawn arent supposed to face each other, they are meant to be the first teams per matchup if that makes sense. Then the second two teams are their opponents.

i like the idea of 1-0 teams not facing other 1-0

you think its a good idea but imagine drawing EDG first round to go 1-0, then playing the 0-1 XLG to go into playoffs. And on the contrary imagine playing G2 and going 0-1, then facing prx who went 1-0

One team gets to farm ch0n0 and have a breeze
the other literally stands no chance

I don't think that's what they're saying.

It's more teams who won round one and lost round two not facing each other in round three because the teams who lost round one had an "easier" game afterwards to get to round three.

g2 arent allat. liquid would beat them if they faced each other.

Redrawing was not the optimal choice but liquid and nrg don't both deserve anything.

This is a competitive tournament and so it's silly to be upset about who you face and when just because it means you go out 10th instead of 6th. If you want to win, you have to beat the best.

They deserve an easier matchup considering they have come from 'uppers'. With that logic, why should any team get an advantage for doing well.

In the playoffs, whoever reaches finals from upper finals, shouldn't get any advantage then?

Maybe I should reword it. Neither of them DESERVE to be in playoffs but they definitely both DESERVE an easier matchup, otherwise what difference does it make if they went 0-1 on the first day. If anything G2 is showing that it was better starting 0-1.

I hear what you're saying, but a team that starts 1-0 either beat an "easy" 0-2 team or has rematch protection against the team they beat if they make it to round 3.

That's reward enough for winning a single match. First seeds and upper bracket winners are rewarded more substantially because they had to win 3-4 matches in a row while everyone else lost.

In NRG's case, they already got an "easy" matchup against XLG. And in TL's case, if they can't beat NRG, are you really certain they'd beat G2?

At the end of the day this is a tournament, only one team can make it. Doesn't matter who you face or who goes home early, you'll eventually have to face them anyways. I mean does it change anything that TL and NRG are facing each other now instead of 5 games from now?

The real question is why both 0-1 teams face each other?

the draw overall is fine

what shouldve been done is that only the teams that went 0-1 face the teams that went 1-0 instead of it being random

Technically Swiss stage implies that winning teams have to face another winning team, but honestly they should be awarded by playing another "weaker team" for doing good on first match
My bad I'm stupid

True. Got downvoted but G2 and T1 facing each other for playoff spot after losing their first games (while looking bad) and then winning vs Chinese 0-1 teams is crazy. While NRG and TL both won their first games, then faced other 1-0 teams in PRX and M8 which are good and now have to fight each other for final spot. On top of that TL already faced T1 so that matchup wasn't even possible making it 50/50 between getting NRG or G2 compared having 1/3 chance of getting NRG for example.

I actually agree but I'm happy we got NRG because it's a fun match-up

if we're talking about what would likely have the best team in playoffs, then NRG liquid shouldn't be happening

this is swiss not a bracket, there are no "upper bracket" advantages in a swiss format. if you truly wanted something "fair" round robin is the only truly "fair" format.
