i haven't played minecraft in a while and i went through all the new stuff on my latest two week phase
a lot of the new stuff feels like they reworked a lot of old features according to their much more polished game design principles while being afraid to remove anything
the mangrove swamp is a direct upgrade to the swamp and should have replaced the old swamp
the ancient city esp. with the portal-like thing at the centre seems like a direct upgrade to the stronghold
the trial chamber is a direct upgrade to the dungeon, esp bc the spawners are coded to not be easily farmable

i wish people weren't so attached to old features so they could actually rework stuff

they have changed their approach to updates rn they're doing "'drops'' 3-4 times a year which are smaller and focus on similar stuff. I like this approach though cuz its adding a lot of variety ig and they are reworking some of the recipes too

Newer Mc versions feel so cluttered, it's just better to stick to 1.16 to 1.18 or 1.19 rn

I enjoy older minecraft so much more than newer minecraft, just cuz it feels simpler and more of a sandbox I feel like.

It might also just be that I grew up with old minecraft

u cant be saying the new caves are ass, theyr proabbly the best update after 1.16. the new caves give so much more depth and variety

am i the only one who enjoys the most recent version of the game? bundles alone make early game jank tolerable

Probably
For me, minecraft has become a bit too complicated as a game, it always has been that type of game where it's pretty much just a simple sandbox

more blocks = cooler builds in my experience, but i specifically play it to be artsy with builds (look up a youtuber called BdoubleO100 and u'll see what im talking about)

Ik BdoubleO100, I watched Hermitcraft from S6/end of S5, I have seen many megabuilds built throughout the season. But still, i feel like more blocks means more grind and ehhh

You’re right, interesting pattern

They do really care about being able to upgrade your world from version to version, so maybe thats one of the reasons they dont want to delete anything (although that only applies to newly generated chunks)

piglins also seem like a better take on zombie pigmen too

I agree

minecrafts main demographic is playing for nostalgia. this is a very inoffensive way to make the game better, i guess

Bro, the vibe of mining old texture iron ore and then hearing a cave sound or whatever and running was peak minecraft.

Also the old zombie pigmen and netherrack textures were peak

nah the current ones are so much cleaner imo

allows it to be decoration too instead of just poopoo

Ok I agree on the netherrack and maybe the zombie pigmen too
But for ores, they should have stayed the same

i think you're reminded of the times you were happy, and not of a better game

I'm reminded of the times when minecraft was simpler, when there was a lot less to keep track of and I could just relax

lowk the new blocks only serve as a new color palette to me anymore and my megabuilds been getting stale of late, but feature-vise i dont find anything after 1.19 being good

i feel like this agrument is kinda weird. nothing you mentioned is really an upgrade to anything else, they more just add variety and interesting things to the world. the last actual upgrade was 1.18.

most of them are just options. they realized that the late game wasnt that interesting, so they improved it. these are more improvements to the game than upgrades to the structures. they honestly started this in 1.16. bastions are later-game fortresses (disregarding speedrunning). netherite is later-game diamonds. trial chambers are late game mineshafts/spawners. ancient cities are late game strongholds (regarding that the dragon isnt really late game anymore)

theyre really just adding flavour/options rather than upgrades

fair point, i just kind of hate how they refuse to change anything old. there's just something saddening about an 8x8 box with a spawner in the centre that's been there since infdev

I mean its a nostalgia at that point
