cause he was never THAT good as an individual, like other players that are in the contention. Nobody put ethan in their top10s ever for any tournament. He is certanly a great player given he won 2 trophies but being a goat requires individual dominance or exceptional calling/being a leader. Him being an igl now gives him a better argument but I need to see more of it

its hard to say how good someone as a flasher because its not really tracked as well as other stats. I never felt like he was so exceptional as a flasher that made me think he was a top10 player.
fragging is not the defining (while important) factor of the goat debate. Alot of other factors like util calling info gathering mid rounding game planning and other intangibles define the goat at least for me. Numerous people (NISMO, FNS, asuna) have vouched about Ethan's capabilities and dominance in those factors even before he won his first trophy. He is a vet of fps and it translates to the game (paris gf game 5). A value add to any team and the goat of the game with his trophy cabinet to prove it. Plus he did it on two separate rosters. Other goat contenders like chron have had the bulk of their success with one roster which was the first franchising dynasty. Until he can replicate that success again in the current era I have ethan over him
Chron was on gambit btw, he did not start finding success on fnatic.
Fragging is not the defining factor but its the easiest stat to track. If ethan has ungodly util that is way better than others you can show me. I think you need to be a stand out player to be considered the goat and ethan was never that guy for me or for the community for the most part
I said bulk of his success, ik he won a chip with gambit. Community agrees that his util is second to none so idk how to show that to u other than to say watch the game more
never seen someone say ethans util is second to none. Chrons util is also great and he also puts up numbers and has done since the start of the game
apples and oranges comparison, they play two different roles, while both great at both. Ethan has shown world beater Calibur util on both flash and scan initiator. Chron plays some flash initiator, but mostly viper/senti.
It is consensus that Ethans util is world class, ask any analyst, viewer, or pro
Ethan has had zero international presence, I don't even know if he qualified for any event between the two champs he won considering the roster he played in were decent enough to atleast drag the team to an event. Yes he has won two trophies, but unless we see more champ level consistency from him he can be excluded. It's just my thought no hate to him.
i hate to call you a first time watcher but prior to champs '23 eg lost to ur flair in the gf and uf in tokyo. and pre franchising he went to many lans with 100t. 2024 nrg was a dumpsterfire year for that team.
I would say 100% win rate for the lans you've attended in your arbitrary window is pretty great,
maybe the greatest of all time
his igling did suck during this time yeah, but are we going to pretend that chron failed to qual for lans in this time as well with a super team

He was also top #1 player in emea stage 2

While ethan was the main problem for nrg that year qualifying to nothing, how are you even comparing these?

Only problem I see with this roster is Aspas's lack of Yoru experience, But I think they could figure it out (maybe chron can play yoru if they need? He's the #2 player OAT so I wouldn't doubt him, Sheydos could as well, he's played duelist for GMB and M3C in the past).
