i like mentalist, its a very "murder case of the week"-ish show but with a main serial killer plot under it which spans across seasons
the main character is a former scam artist psychic who is really good at reading people and manipulating, and he helps the police solve cases while he is after the serial killer

if you like anime, monster and pluto are great mystery shows too
