that is it. every other trophy might be mickey mouse, but not a fluke.
I do think Optic deserved 1 trophy, but the 1 they got was a fluke.
a team that won a mickey mouse = winning a trophy that is not too important/big
trophy fluke = arguably werent the actual best team of the event
G2 should take Bangkok
Fnc should take Toronto
Seoul's champ should be TH's
no, fluke means something that's very unlikely to happen
so for example it'd be T1 and Acend fluking their way to a win since they're both garbage teams who couldn't accomplish anything before or after that
2022 optic cuz FPX werent there.
2025 prx cuz FNC got 4th pick for playoffs -> face Gen.G (PRX/FNC's kryptonite) -> FNC go to lower bracket instead of PRX -> PRX get 2 map ban advantage = fluke (it isnt like insanely flukey, but still flukey)
im not biased. it is just those 2 tournaments. Toronto 2025 wasnt as much of a fluke as reykjavik 2022 though.

prx = they beat fnatic with double map ban and without it they lost to fnatic in champs and in ewc
if FNC didnt face GEN.G, they'd win the tournament and you know that.

I think with 2024 edg they just had a life game. undeniably the grand finals game was 100% deserved to be edge. that being said lev/th were more deserving of that trophy

The double veto advantage is the standard for the upper winner, if our map pool wasn't good we weren't the best team, simple as.
every team at the tournament knew the format beforehand
you can debate whether the rule is good or bad, but it doesn't discredit prx's win
Oh shi I'll give you that. Gmb deserved that more and rito gave them an advantage early in the tournament.
Other than ACEND win nothing was a fluke imo
The only one I think is a fluke is T1 because they just had a honeymoon phase and then disappeared off the face of the planet.
EDG- They got a little lucky with the Neon buff, but they did have a really good read on the meta during champs and they still made top 3 at the next masters, so I don't think they were a fluke but instead underestimated how much impact simon had on the team and after he left it really showed that simon was more important than most people realized.
PRX- They've been to so many GF and have one of the talented roster in all of VCT currently, they were bound to win a trophy eventually and they still look like a good team, but seem to have gotten a little complacent after not losing for so long.
Optic- Optic was top 3 at every event, it was definitely not a fluke that they won at least one of those trophies.
a bit funfact: If PRX lose map 4, Fnatic will win map 5 because Split is where Boaster farming assist from Astra utility. We already see that in EWC
Fun fact if PRX win map 2 then PRX would win 3-0. It doesn't matter that FNC could theoretically win a map that we didn't get to see, the fact that they couldn't even get to map 5 tells you that they were the worse team at the time they played.
Optic was a fluke the best team at the time couldnt even show up to the event.
Paper Rex well i agree they were due i dont think they actually played like the best team at that event i feel like it was more due to their opponents losing to themselves in multiple games
Optic still placed top 3 at the next event and second at champions. Also the supposedly best team almost never actually win the events where they are predicted to win as we've seen time and time again with every event.
they literally won the next event though and beat optic. either way that can never not be a fluke because at least one of the best teams at the time wasnt there not saying optic wasnt a top 3 team of that year but just because of the nature of the win its a fluke
By that logic GenG's trophy is a fluke because Sen beat them at the previous event and at the next event. Your logic makes 0 sense.
assuming what you mean by fluke is the team who won were not the best team within the tournament there are many more than that

the only reason i dont think edg deserves to be in this is because the team placed 1st and 3rd in the only events they played as a 5 and once playoffs started in 2024 champs they were clearly playing like the best team imo

EDG, and PRX were not flukes bro at all and T1 were less a fluke and more just G2 tossing.
T1 is a fluke but not Toronto it is fair and square coming from a fnc fan itself
calling prx toronto fluke is crazy (they beat TH, TL, G2, SEN, WOL crazy underdog run, and FNC which most of them also favored to win)
