2025’s Point System

In short, this point system allows for teams that probably don’t deserve champs to make it anyway. It makes champs likely less competitive, but in return champs qualification is more entertaining. And honestly, this is probably a good thing for the game. Right now, Riot needs more viewers and people interested in the game, and a circuit focused on just being more competitive isn’t going to attract new fans. They need more entertaining storylines, and this point system is a step in the right direction.

Like sure it’s kinda stupid that MIBR and WOL could possibly make champs, but now we have TLN fighting for the last Pacific spot over DRX, and storylines like that.

TLDR: current point system makes VCT more entertaining while sacrificing competitiveness, which the esport needs to attract more attention.

imo lcq doesn’t make much sense either. atp you might aswell just let the stage 2 fourth place team qualify.
it worked for 2023 since it was between a masters and champs, but if it was just a couple weeks after stage two i wouldn’t see a point in doing it.

LCQ gives teams who have had literally zero success at least a little hope for the year, like imagine there is kickoff for masters 1, stage 1 for masters 2 and top 3 go, and then stage 2 for champs and top 3 go

then, because the year has been extended, riot could run the LCQ in the time before champs. obviously this would put the team that quals for champs thru LCQ at a time disadvantage, but that is the punishment for not finding success throughout the year.

in 2023 kru played like total dogshit, went 0-9 for the season but still got to go to champions off of a miracle LCQ run

at champions they were immediately grouped

see how that isn't exaccctlyyyyy the fairest on the teams that actually made an effort over the regular season

KRU did not play like "total dogshit" through 2023 Regular Season

64.7% out of the 23 maps they played were not stomps (13-8 or worse)
Compared to FURIA, at the time, a middle of the pack team, was 60%

KRU just sucked at closing stuff out at that time

It doesn't sacrifice competitiveness at all?? Playoffs wins don't award u points but every normal match win does so that means even if u failed in playoffs or were good previously and then had a slump at a bad time u can still make it. Position wins also awards bigger points

i dont find it all that bad considering it actually rewards teams that have been good throughout the year as opposed to a fluke hot streak that happens through lcq

Champs point system is basically a prestige system so team doesn't troll. As qualifying to champs only, no need to win anything will net you 1 million dollar already if we base on 2024 champs bundle sale. so if you want to be paid generously, go to champs

If we base it on qualification only, teams who actually play in first split won't be rewarded than team who lock in at 2nd split

Why ? They did good during the year, last year we saw Sen that wasnt that good that managed to go to world and make a good run, it's nice that it's not only split 2.

I just think we can have both a point system and an LCQ :

Top 2 --> Champs
1st in point --> Champs
Other team go in LCQ that is play during the playoffs, more point you have later you enter in the LCQ
