Valorant vs Csgo viewership

Today csgo had 1.7 mil viewers while Valorant had 1.1 million which is a 200k drop off from masters bangkok

Stats are from esports charts and obviously there is no way of knowing china viewership but even with china viewership I doubt its more than csgo since csgo also has good Chinese viewership

Because sometimes some people on this site try to claim Valo gets more viewership and also it was interesting that both finals happened on the same day

You don’t think chinese people watch cs? Cs has a very big market in China

Compared to Valorant it isn't really close, vct China peaked 1.8 million viewership just for the regional league, champs 2024 chinese viewership is estimated to be about 7.28 million. Chinese CS just doesn't have a scene unfortunately, I would be surprised if the major even broke 2 mill in china.

didnt LVG and TYLOO had great performances in the major?

cs has a big scene in china but its not even as big as crossfire forget val which is the 2nd most played game in pc cafes in china only league of legends is more popular

The fact that valo got 1 million viewers at the same time as a major cs event is a huge win for a 5 year old game in an established market. Besides what do we care about viewers we aren't sponsoring shit

  1. CS2 > VAL obviously
  2. However, Valorant always does poorly in viewership for the 2nd tournament of the year.

The major final was blow out games on each side which affected the viewership. If the final was like the quarterfinals of mouz vs spirit, it would’ve easily got at least 2.5mil imo

Bangkok had 4.3 mil viewers.

esports charts never count CN numbers.
4.3 million source comes from riot themselves.

Thats because they use heat index as the parameter. Pretty sure u have to use heat index for CS if u want to include cn

#40
shroudcsgon
-1
Frags
+

nope they get real numbers from streaming companies itself . If they just straight up added the heat index to ccv its would be like 50 + million . val get way more heat index combined from all the chinese sites than cs does

#44

Frags

BS. there is literally 0 standardisation of CN viewers cuz it relies on people clicking, having likes which proportionates to popularity. these are NOT exact numbers when these data arent verified and giving approximate values. its also not fair when the numbers for CS viewership in CN isnt available since Riot games's parent company is tencent

#45
shroudcsgon
0
Frags
+

to the public its not available to the streaming sites themselves they know the concurrent numbers which is where tencent , riot get it from and valve may or may not have those numbers and yeah to be fair u need exact numbers for both games to compare but val is simply bigger in china the difference in heat number is really significant and the playerbase is also way more ( val is 2nd in pc cafes only to lol ) while cs is like 9th https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/1hdgdfx/valorant_has_ranked_second_in_chinese_internet/
So even if there arent absolute accurate numbers for cs available cuz valve does not release them , its not that hard to deduct from all the other stats and numbers than val is simply way bigger in china

4th on this list is crossfire btw the real debate in china is val vs cf

#47
Burger_brain

still the point is its unfair when the data for CS major viewership isnt available, what u linked is playerbase which doesnt mean it proportionates to viewership.

well who cares really but https://x.com/ValorINTEL/status/1936810919838765258 this not the finals viewership but includes china pretty sure

I just don’t think there is anyway these numbers are true because there is absolutely no way more than 2 million people in china tuned in for Fnatic vs Wolves and 800 thousand everywhere else in the world its so easy to fabricate chinese numbers

have u looked at chinese population before?

#19
USCK

Frags

Yes china population is 1.4 billion and the rest of the world is 6.8 billion so how are you going to tell me that 6.8 billion barely squeezes out 800k viewers all together but chinese viewership is somehow like 2-3 million in the middle of the night not even for Chinese games only but according to riot its nearly all games and there is no way to actually verify if its true or not

#23

compared to population/amount of viewers china aint much higher than usa

#38
shroudcsgon

Frags

Bro got zero esports knowledge and uses negative IQ logic . Esports in general is way bigger in china than any country its also mainstream . Pro players in china are like actual celebrities . LOL worlds last year had 50 million peak viewers ( 7 million non china 43 million from china ) . Almost every esport that is even decently popular in china has the largest share of its viewer base and player base from china .

simply because CS is a game for everyone and you wouldnt expect someone who never watched valorant to kinda understand whats going on

Also it’s a NA event when half of Asia is sleeping so don’t expect big numbers

Escharts stopped counting the steamtv stream that autoplays in-game few years ago.

As mentioned in the article comparing the events
