EXTREMLY hot take but I’m going to actually disagree. Now ik this may seem a bit devil’s advocate here which I apologize for but I think it’s important to be considered.
We don’t know too much about VLR’s finances, but I’m gonna make a couple assumptions here. First of all, we know that enigma is a solo dev, and we also know that there is not too many mods and I don’t think it’s that crazy to think that they are unpaid/very little paid. All of this seems to point to the idea that they aren’t making that much money if the owner is still the only developer and there’s so little staff. Secondly, I’m sure it has to be expensive asf to store all the data vlr stores. 5 years of forum posts, match data, comments, has to require a lot of cloud storage to store. Thirdly, the only forms of monetization vlr has are the ads and the referral betting links. Considering 90% of y’all use an ad-blocker and I doubt many people are clicking on them + using those specific links for betting, I doubt vlr is making that much money.
Now the solution to this isn’t to yell at enigma to do more, there’s only so much a solo dev can do, so the only way to get these features is hiring more devs which means increasing the monetization on the site to pay more devs, and idk if you’ve gone on ind*d.com or lnked in, but hiring for those j*bs is expensive asf. This would mean all the features we ask for would be locked behind a pay wall or some other form of monetization, which i doubt any of us want. Like imagine instead of getting a 30 sec cooldown after reaching 4 stars instead of 5 minutes, you have to pay a one time fee of $7.99 to have a shorter cooldown.
Now I know that this is very pessimistic and give vlr a lot of benefit of the doubt, but I still think it’s important to consider when delivering criticism. Plus it’s not like enigma isn’t doing anything, he litteraly just added a ui change with the message icon so it shows updates are still being made, just the ones he can do.
