"They’re forcing everyone to watch on (another platform). Who even watches (there) [redacted]? We went from 10,000–20,000 people watching Indonesian VALORANT to just a few hundred.

Tell me, what’s the point of even running a VALORANT division now? There’s no publicity [redacted]."

Who would have thought a platform that no one other than Koreans use would be bad in terms of exposure for SEA teams. What do you mean the people don't want to switch platforms from where they are comfortable in to a completely new one. There is no way anyone could have seen this coming... 🤡🤡🤡

I have been big on tier 2 since it started but this year I haven't watched a single game of SEA Challengers. I can't even name the teams that are in it neither do I know how the teams are represented from each region and it's same with a lot of people from those countries too.

At first atleast they pretended to care about SEA and tier 2 in general. This move was enough to show the truth. Absolutely abysmal showing of management and future planning. But don't blame Riot, small indy company Riot.

Riot as a whole just does not give enough of a fuck to their tier 2 scenes. Look at how they're running NA tier 2, bringing in a production company that says they'll run the league for the absolute bare minimum (literally cost is slightly above the prizepool)

The SOOP deal went through because SOOP said they'd handle everything at a low cost, and Riot was totally okay with that. They should be willing to invest more money so that tier 2 scenes can properly grow, because the way the VCT circuit is being run there's enough potential for Tier 2 to be just as popular as Tier 1 in some regions, especially Asia.

Brother atleast they are broadcasting those on a platform people want to use. I can turn on YouTube and watch any region challengers but SEA. And you are right, Riot just doesn't care about Tier 2. Might as well make the whole thing a franchise league like LoL.

Yeah that's the biggest difference between NA and SEA, the fact that Riot is able to broadcast matches on proper platforms. The LATAM company Riot outsources NA to doesn't own a streaming service, but if they did I'm sure Riot would be okay with exclusivity too. Just a really shitty deal.

Yep :)
With the scene so unstable, it's double harder for any sea team to beat the stable Korea and JP teams too :D

Selling exclusive streaming rights to a platform which ABSOLUTELY NO ONE uses is CRAZY. it's not even that the platform is good or has any potential, the platform is COMPLETE DOGSHIT in comparison to YT and Twitch.

That and pooling SEA into 1 region, well done, Riot. How did they make these decisions and think it would be better for the scene or even for the company???

tbf i don't really care since LOL is basically just LPL vs LCK and not even the western/pacific league matter.
but VAL have sooooo much potential than that because everyone could beat everyone. it's an exciting new (on going) thing.
yet somehow they want it to be LOL all over again lmao

just like KssS said, Shoutout to him

Riot has no idea how to handle SEA. If lack of investment was the issue then partnering with SOOP was the worst possible move ever. Imagine consolidating all of SEA into one league : Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia & Singapore even OCE. The combined viewership would skyrocket. With proper distribution on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, you attract more sponsors and actually grow the scene.

But what do we get?
FUCKING SOOP, broadcast partner that averages 200–300 viewers per match. No reach. No hype. No future.

And you know whats funny?
Riot doesn’t want to spend money on SEA, but they expect SEA to carry their Ascension tournaments

  1. First Ascension? Thailand

  2. Second? Moved from Japan to Indonesia, because Japan was "too expensive” can't load their logistic

  3. Third? Back to Thailand again? 😂

broke ass company bro
No investment in SEA, no support for the scene but somehow we’re good enough to host their regional events, Make it make sense

They want SEA people to keep watching only korean pro player in "their" perfect valorant league but dont want any disgusting SEA pro players ON the league itself to challenge their seat..

Cheap production fee in SEA + Potential big viewership from SEA countries (KR full of old people now like JP) + only korean playing on the league = Jake Sin perfect wet dream.

I'm glad teams are finally calling out for these shitty decisions riot makes for t2, but to be frank, nothing's actually going to change as long as this management rules

looks like Jake Sin will personally block AE from any chance of joining partnership 2.0

do you think he'd be still in that position in 2027?

#23

IDK but 2026 will be the year the teams will be selected, cause I would assume it would take 6 months + for orgs to do their overseas operation (VISA/KR bank accounts/team house etc). If Jake sin not removed by end of 2025, he'll select the team in 2026 for the partnership 2.0 in 2027. You'd need someone to work in RIOT KR office for that.
