Why we should support EWC

The EWC hate is genuinely so forced. I'm tired of seeing shit heads on twitter who dont understand the concept of a business hating on EWC. EWC is by far the easiest and (for now) the only way that orgs and riot can actually make a profit in e-sports. EWC literally gave riot an offer that was too good to refuse and riot needed this money badly because currently e-sports aren't profitable. Participating in EWC is basically the only way that riot could make a profit. EWC will also introduce valorant e-sports to a new audience that will generate riot more money. Also it's just more valorant for the fans. It hurts to admit it but EWC is a step in the right direction for VCT and for e-sports in general.

Now it's time to get into the more controversial stuff that will probably get this post nuked, sportswashing. I'm not trying to be political I am just simply stating facts:

Saudi Arabia is allied with the US.
You can get imprisoned for speaking out against the government in Thailand
I shouldn't even have to explain China.

First off if you're actually mad about riot partnering with EWC then shouldn't you be more upset with the US? Also how come none of these dipshits on twitter are calling out riot for having LANs in Bangkok and China? Are they not sportswashing too? Probably because these dumbasses are abnormally obsessed with Asian culture. Its crazy that if this event was being hosted anywhere else but the Middle East, they probably wouldn't have a problem with it. Also don't get mad at your team for participating in EWC It's literally just free money for them and it is very possible for your team to no longer exist in a year or two without EWC.

The schedule for EWC does suck though but keep in mind there are so many other e-sports at EWC and there just isn't enough time for a good schedule for valorant.

Interesting take. Although I think the attitude towards sportswashing in china/asia is more of a reflection of our historic cultural relationship than an obession except for a select group of loud twitter users. I think they see only the bad in ewc and label it all that way, instead of taking account all the factors, INCLUDING other esports regions and states' ethics. Countries aren't good and evil, It's immature to think of it that way, but at least it brings up real issues. Awareness is good, though what are twitter users gonna do to solve that anyways?

"but the moral implications" why are the "good" countries not investing then? Every major country actually investing in eSports is objectively evil ASF
USA, China, Saudi.

"Their govt bad"
AND THERES A GOOD ONE DAWG?

Keep in mind the people complaining about it are just the terminally online xitter/vlr freaks. I guarantee that it's just another international tourament for 95% of the viewerbase.

Every time you guys bring up the same other countries are bad point but the government themselves of those countries aren’t the ones running the events when we have them there, also they excluded GC teams for a reason 😂

Kind of wrong. Tencent gets government funds, and NRG is funded National Army

Some people will write paragraphs on why I should not support EWC and I'm over here like "I support it simply because I get to watch more Valorant lol"

tired of bums that are too lazy to stand for something so instead of saying that with their whole chest they just sit and write paragraphs to justify it so they feel better about themselves

saying that we SHOULD support EWC is also disgusting

i just want more games tbf. if this helps the org i support continue to thrive and compete im all for it.

do i like saudi? no but im just here for the games. if we keep going into "this government is bad or these people are bad" discussion its just going to be long lol considering the fact that no government is good.

Luckily WE don’t need to support the EWC, you can though as that’s your choice and you can enjoy that. Yes governments for the countries you named are terrible. But Saudi Arabia would actively ex*cute LGBTQ and also actively dehumanise women with things such as the guardianship system and the women can’t even protest for more rights because they’ll get imprisoned.

MODS DONT BAN ME IM JUST RESPONDING! NOT BEING POLITICAL

Saudi Arabia isnt uniquely evil, but the difference is that other countries are just locations where Riot hosts events. EWC is a tournament hosted by the Saudi government just to make themselves look better. My complaint with EWC isnt that its evil, more that the hosts just dont care about gaming or esports and just want to throw money to get fans
