Honestly I think the only reason we dropped Bonkar was maybe because he wanted to keep Verno. He wasn't even that bad in the offseason, could've been a chem issue but that move dumbfounded me.
but at the least just kick verno and keep bonkar. how do you let go of one of the best coaches and now theyre stuck not even having a chance to qualify for champs unless they can beat g2, mibr, c9, kru, lev, sen, loud, 100t and eg and theyre not even favoured to beat any of them.
It doesnt make sense to me honestly. Could be related could be because of something else. But yeah its gonna be alot harder to qualify anywhere now and it sucks
bonkar possibly gave an ultimatum that he would only coach the team if verno stayed on the active roster, and nrg chose to keep fns + s0m over bonkar and verno
thats probably the worst decision NRG have made, and theyuve made alot of bad decisions
probably out of respect/loyalty rather than them thinking ahead. s0m's been with the org for a while and fns holds some say in the community since he has a fanbase. nrg dropping them both could lead to a somewhat worser rep
when you are picking whos more popular in the community rather than whos better. i worry for that org
s0m is still a top 3 controller in NA though, as a player he's great, loyalty aside.
if he played for any other team s0m would probably be the best controller and up for the best of all time but rip
I mean NRG have always made hype moves rather than winning moves, possibly because they feel like its their best way to continue in franchising given that they werent very relevant pre-franchising
they were definitely relevant pre franchising, just not in valorant/tac shooters. their rocket league rosters across the years have been iconic. their 'hype' moves were meant to be winning moves. they didnt sign d1 and ethan who just won champs for hype.. they wanted to win. only hype move i can think of is ardiis, who even then was fairly high level in 2022 right before being signed
I mean it's easier to find a FA coach and initiator player then replace an IGL and a top 5 controller.

i dont see them doing anything. they actually looked promising for the first 4 rounds before they started throwing winning positions again. they probably arent gonna drop anyone since they dont want more backlash against their org like the verno situation . gg go next season

No because they knew him and FNS were a package deal. If s0m would have come out and said "I'm open to any team without FNS" after last season they would have 100% perused him once TenZ retired. You aren't just getting a great controller player they would have also gained an insanely clouted player which SEN is all about.
hot take but they should just stay as is and try to improve for split 2 / maybe make a playoff push if you win against LEV, just for experience.
Are you really dropping any of the players rn? mada has shown the most potential. FNS is retiring by the end of the year and theres no alternatives rn; and you're obviously not dropping s0m. Ethan has still shown to be an extremely solid player. brawk is maybe the most likely but he was also considered THE BEST initiator in T2 next to Verno, it's entirely possible that any other t2 alternative would be even worse.
Keep their heads up, prac and grind for the LEV game, and if that doesn't work out, keep grinding for Split 2.

I dont think thats that hot of a take, not many players are on caliber of whoever could be replaced right now. Plus chem reasons. I def think we should stick with the current roster until the off season to see if we have better options. Brawk was 100% the next best T2 init option plus he has chem with Mada already which has definitely helped.
I don't think thats a hot take, but if I were in charge I'd 100% be making roster changes. If they lose against LEV next week, which seems likely, they need to win out next stage and place like top 4 in playoffs or just make top 2 to go to champs, both very unlikely. You've got 3 players who have said they won't be returning next year; this team is going nowhere fast so just drop them all and focus on the rebuild instead, get young players experience and see what you have. And if it's Mikes and not FNS thats coming up with these 2023 comps, drop him as well. But I imagine they won't do this since cutting your 3 most popular players probably won't go over well with their fans
just change igl at the very least and maybe more if they plan on quitting so at least the season can go to improving the team instead of the current lineup which unfortunately cant compete for internationals and no playoffs likely
yeah exactly my point. My understanding is that FNS, s0m and Ethan are all retiring at the end of the year, its pointless to keep them for the rest of the season if these are the results they can achieve. If you can't win now, build for the future

this is just speculation but i feel like from what ive seen and just reading through the lines NRG management isnt very involved within the team and fns, ethan, and som probably wanted to kick verno because he didnt com much and didnt mesh with team, mada probably went along with it but bonkar felt like the grass wasnt greener and put his neck on the line for verno wanting to work through these issues so management sided with the players with the big following because of their brand. but the real fuck up happened when they decided to get 2 nepo replacements. mikes worked with fns on envy so he probably vouched for him and brawk was for sure just mada just vouching for him i doubt they even trialed him tbh. and i think this hands off management style basically just shot them in the ass because they just dont know whats actually happening within the team. now they dont have a roster for the future because fns and som are probably retiring after this season and brawk is just a role player so they have 2 pieces in ethan and mada to build off of and i doubt ethan will be around much longer.
pull out the org and give the spot to someone actually deserving
or alternatively, don't put FNS in charge of everything and do your management job properly yourself
they are cooked this year
next year get potter ( she said this year she was having talks to join nrg but didn't happen ) and do a full new build around mada

Keep FNS and pick up Stelllar as a sixth man. Let FNS work with him and then make the switch. FNS can work with him the rest of the season and then see if he likes coaching.
Unfortunate for s0m though. I still believe that he is the best controller in americas.
Watch the tdawgg video, towards the end he mentions that FNS was going to get dropped and s0m and Ethan said if FNS is off we are off so it was either those 3 or bonkar verno. Sad to see them go like this
