this is swiss without buchholz seeding which is kinda similar to double elim but only head to head win/loss that matters. its actually the best system

It's basically double elim but you don't know the bracket beforehand.

Say APAC vs Americas happened in the first round of the playoff and Americas beats APAC.
APAC will have to face each other in the lower and send one of them home.

APAC vs APAC and Americas vs Americas in the first round is definitely better because after that, it'll be two APAC vs Americas matches, one in lower and one in upper finals
