How are people convinced TenZ popularity is similar to Faker's popularity?
True TenZ might be the most popular person in Valorant community but faker is the most famous pro in esports scene. I don't even watch LoL and I'm aware of faker and I believe it's not the same for TenZ.

its not even similar though, Faker is the GOAT of his game, TenZ by far isn't. Other leagues like the LEC and whatnot glaze Faker for his success when given the opportunity like he's Jesus Christ, whereas in Valorant he's more like a meme outside of NA. He rubs off as more as the TheShy of Valorant ngl.
but can you really call something like that as a means to compare him to Faker though? A lot of ppl also think about other pros when it comes to LoL first like Uzi, Ruler, Caps, Rekkles, Doublelift, Bjergsen, etc depending on thier region. Faker is most likely the first to come to mind though overall but I have a really hard time in believing that Valorant players in countries like Brazil or Korea would think of TenZ as the first thing that comes to mind when talking about Valorant over other things.
you're talking about their reputation and standing in their communities, i'm talking outside of them, to random dudes if you ask them have you heard of any valorant/league players there's a very very high chance they will answer with tenz and faker
also i agree, when asked about a league player forg1ven always comes to mind first because your country and local community matters when you're kinda involved in those scenes
Actually the lack of achievements in sports has nothing to do with why esports went crazy in korea and asia. During the the 1990s and early 2000s was the huge wave of technology advancement in korea which included computers/cars/phones/roads/electricity and etc. Koreans took up computers and jobs instead of a ball or sports. If it went the other way korea would not be as developed but would be better at sports easily. Either way I see asians having success in olympics all the time so I wouldnt be too sure of that statement. Korea and japan better than a lot of countries at baseball. Korea owns archery, china owns weightlifting. The arguably p4p boxer itw is japanese too lol. I mean I can keep going but you get the point
