I'm actually curious on what you guys think about every team getting a 6th player on their roster. Do you think that team will sign a 6th just to be a sub in case things happen or do you think team will use their 6th as additional player they can use to create various comp for different map?

I can't see a difference with the actual system. Teams already could have a 6th. Does the new rule forces teams to play with him an amount of matches or something?

I think it’s making it so you can import 3 players unless they change the import policy. AFAIK 50% of your team has to be from the region you compete in so if you have 6 players, you can have 3 imports. I also think some team i.e DRX and 100T like prep heavy teams will use the sub to their full ability.

Yeah no, only 1 import allowed as far as I know, and no that’s not why. The rules is that basically now they force you to have a 6th player, but no he does not have to play it’s basically just an excuse for Riot to not have to reschedule matches when something happens and just be able to say “Play with your 6th”. You can sign your mom as 6 th if you want as long as you don’t get sick

I dont like it, I think it will take away from the hype because I want to see the same roster play every game tbh

in league, most teams play all their games with a fixed 5, and their 6th is just there as backup or to take over when a player retires

I think the idea was that the team has a backup of players in case something happens to the main players (injury, illness, etc.). Means most likely we will see the same rosters every game. Except that they have different strategy for specific map. like what DRX did when they still have Laika or Team Secret did with Jremy....

My prediction is that majority of teams will just sign some tier 2 or 3 level player to work as mandate 6th man. Its just too hard to make 6th man roster where you swap players between maps work I think. This may happen in some Asian teams, but western will just keep main 5 and have some random bench warmer.

they won't sign a t2/t3 player. if one of their players falls sick, u realize they'll have to sub in that t2/t3 player when they could've picked up someone way better

Yes they will 100%. No tier 1 player will accept a spot as bench warmer. Even for most tier 2 players that will not be something they accept lightly. Most 6th players will be players with no ambitions. Unless the team actually decides to use the 6th man often but I doubt it. Also someone falling sick really isn't an problem. That's rare and even in Valorant we have seen teams subbing in players like H1ber, Enzo, SEIDER, Masked, Jammyz that are/were all tier 2 players and for those it was a positive thing just joining in for 1 tournament, but being bench warmer is completely different thing and just negative for their careers.

Do you realize if that happens there is a high chance your sun doesn’t even play that role so you’re fucked af anyway. Still why would any decent player accept to throw their career away by just agreeing to sit bench
