Not sure why people are so high up on this team. Their chances of making it out of groups are next to impossible, they get flattened by the other top teams in EMEA, (mind you they went 1-2 in playoffs and still qualified for masters) and most of their players have no LAN experience.

Curious to see why some people this team is better than bottom 3 in the tournament.

edit: well shit.

Majority of the people are firm that guild won't make it.

https://www.vlr.gg/113088/plat-chat-rankings

was looking through this and a lot of people were saying that guild should be rated higher than leviatan and some of the APAC teams.

and how is that being "high up" on the team, leviatan lost to fusion and to kru 2 times in the qualifier, they are overrated if any team, the final kru just choked it badly

idk man, it's kinda 50/50. I don't see that much people hyped about them. In fact i remember a thread when i said "people sleeps on Guild, they silently do things pretty good" but the general opinion was kinda "they're not better than the other EMEA teams"

it's the opposite actually. Everyone has written Guild off completely. I think they have a really good chance of beating Optic and advancing to playoffs.

I want to hear a reason on why you think that because imo they haven't shown any sign of being able to beat a top team like optic. just a genuine question no hate

because their anti-strating is insane and they had like a week to prepare so I just wouldnt be surprised if they manage to beat optic

They played really well this past qualifier. They had close maps against Fnatic and FPX. Even though they are clearly the worst out of the three they proved they can compete with them. I think if they prepare well they can reach Optic's level or higher. Guild is not like G2 or Liquid.

my entire pickem is riding on them beating optic and loud it's gonna happen mark my words

No one is high up on them tbh. They are not in the same convo as FNC and FPX as of right now, but they do have a lot of potential to cause upsets. OPTIC may struggle a bit against them if not properly prepared to anti-strat them.
But on the flip side, it is their first LAN + crowd is present... gonna be interesting to see nonetheless.

Lol I think ur underrating them. They were able to go 1-2 in playoffs cause they stomped their group so hard. They will most likely no make it out of groups, but they are not a bad team

They lost to Navi
Beat an out of form M3C
Beat a Liquid that are regaining their footing (2-1)
Beat BBL
Beat BIG (2-1)

they had an easier group which they didn't even stomp.

to be fair i’m not entirely sure how much they were trying in the match against NAVI. they had already secured top seed and qualified so they had nothing to lose, so they played like it. Alongside this I think NAVI was the biggest surprise of the group stage with how well they performed (remember in h2h they technically beat out m3c) so I would say that’s a fair team to lose to. I just think they’re incredibly strong at counterstratting (as seen in their haven vs m3c) and if teams like OpTic aren’t careful there’s a world where Guild could come out on top.

TBF the Navi game didn't matter at all, they had first seed locked regardless

this thread isn't about favorites, it's about how overrated this team is.

Guild are a great team, Leo and sayf are incredible and they have lan experiance. People are overrating them because of individual star power in leo and sayf and other people are underrating them because there stuck in with loud and optic. Their a solid team.

Actually great. Today's games have proven that superstition and patterns will continue to happen.

For example, OpTic hasn't taken a map off a European team, and KRU never loses to Brazil.

If these sort of patterns continue, then OpTic will win this event. OpTic are known to start off slow in their opening matches. (Loss to XIA, close first map to X10 in champs, close match to VK in M3 berlin)

OpTic has done well after their first loss or close match (other than champs)

Therefore, OpTic will do well in Copenhagen, if not, win.
