should be a reality next year right? like they have in LoL
2 emea teams (from 4 spots)
2 china teams (from 4 spots)
1 amer team (from 5 spots)
1 pacific team (from 5 spots)

for example this year play-ins would be:
FUT VIT EDG XLG LEV VARREL

4 teams move to group stage.
The inferiority of EMEA and China compared to Americas and Pacific is clear. To avoid direct discrimination by stripping them of slots, let's hold a preliminary stage to ensure the highest level of play reaches the group stage.

Last year we lost a great C9 (almost beaten world champions nrg) and talon (top 3 pacific), and this year we lose an insane lev (masters winner) and miraculous varrel (insane split)

Lets add Play-ins for next year!

16 team swiss stage for top 3-6 of every region form the swiss opening stage.
8 advance 8 are out.
8 advanced teams join the #1-2 of every region in the main stage.
run the swiss again.
8 team playoffs.
single elim for content.
lol and cs literally operate with the swiss stage, it's the GOAT format

12 team events seem so weird to me. like 8 team swiss stage just looks wrong

agreed, don't know what Riots obsession with it is. just increase Masters and regionals to 16 teams simply for the sake of formatting.

I mean thats definitely why, but I just think their refusal to actually evolve any of their tournament formats is kneecapping the pro scene.

it just looks stupid. like surely you run the 16 team format for masters when it works just fine for champs?

I guess the reasoning for that is it would make Masters and Champions too similar (not that they aren't already) and would take away from Champs "prestige". But I think the easy solution here would be to just add more teams to it and have some sort of play-in stage.

I mean if you want to go all out, 32 teams with 3 swiss stages before playoffs like CS. If you want to go less extreme, 24 teams, with 1-2 from each region getting the bye and 3-4-5-6 forming the opening stage

32 teams is too extreme, even in CS a lot of them end up just being filler. I think 20-24 is the sweet spot.

riot are NOT dragging 32 teams into the same venue. they run 2 games per day even at internationals, they are not launching a 3 swiss stage cycle which needs 2 streams and 8 games played in the first two days of the stage :D
