. After Stage 1, ZynX appeared to have recovered, competing in eight matches for Gen.G through its EWC Pacific Qualifier
run, where the team came up just short of reaching the event. Gen.G's statement shared that, since ZynX first began experiencing wrist pain, his scrim time was reduced, and that he only competed in EWC matches while sitting out of scrims. Despite those efforts, Gen.G shared that ZynX's condition worsened.

"Following consultations with multiple medical professionals, ZynX was advised to refrain from using his wrist and focus on a full recovery through an extended period of rest," the org said. "After numerous in-depth discussions between ZynX, Gen.G management, and Head Coach solo, we collectively agreed that his long-term health and career must come first. As a result, he will take the remainder of the season to focus entirely on his recovery."

last year, has been filling Gen.G's secondary Duelist, Sentinel, and secondary Controller roles this year. During the Yoru-heavy meta that started the year, he had the most success on Yoru, but also played Waylay throughout portions of Kickoff. Through three matches in Stage 1, he primarily played Duelist, but also had maps on Sentinel and Initiator.
Gen.G's roles have gone through plenty of mixing in 2026. Karon , once Pacific's Controller of the year, was moved onto Sentinel, while rookie Initiator Ash was moved into the Controller role. After much experimentation, Gen.G seemed to play its best Valorant with t3xture on Duelist with the occasional Chamber map, while Ash's Neon, Karon's Controller, and occasional Phoenix, and ZynX on Sentinel were most reliable.
The team's struggle with roles could be attributed to the return of veteran Initiator player Lakia . In addition to joining as a lifelong Initiator player, Lakia also took on the IGL role, a role that has primarily been assigned to Controller players for Gen.G through its Munchkin -led years. A move away from the Lakia-centric team has already begun, with the team parting ways with him last week. Both moves now open up two roster spots for Gen.G, with a reliable Duelist player and a Sentinel or Controller player likely slated to enter the fray for the team.
