The 2006-born KiTae joins Gen.G not just looking to replace a spot in the starting lineup, but may also be taking over shot-calling duties from first-year IGL Lakia for the Tiger Nation. He was the IGL for GGA through Challengers Korea Split 1, helping the team to a runner-up finish. He primarily played the Initiator role, while also playing Omen on some maps for the academy squad.

Should Gen.G make KiTae its IGL, another shift of roles may be on the cards. With Lakia being a lifelong Initiator player, KiTae may take over Controller duties from Ash. Given the success of Korean IGLs in the Controller role, a shift from an Initiator calling the shots to a smokes player may be the fix for Gen.G, which is having its worst year performance-wise since 2023. Ash, who played the Duelist and Initiator roles for GGA in 2025, could move back into that role, while head coach solo appears to be content utilizing Karon in the Sentinel and Duelist roles. With t3xture playing Chamber earlier in Pacific Stage 1, Gen.G has shown a willingness to adapt to the meta.
