How old are yall? are you guys teenagers who play some type of sport, an adult who has a job, maybe casually play sports, stay a little active, maybe go to the gym. Curios if you guys do anything cool. I remember some guys i think EU_Quiet was one of them saying he was in mma, pretty epic, and then I think Milan(?) idk if it was actually him, saying he felt numb after going for a run. Curious to see if you guys are staying healthy and arent complete degenerates lol.
If any of you guys do track/cross country around the California area then maybe i'll see you during meets, would be kinda cool.

All our girls also gave up on state. Theyre all really good but they rather play soccer. They didnt even want to stay and show support to our friends from other schools because they would miss their soccer game ;-;

We had one girls give it her all and get top 10 but one of our girls also was literally bleeding bro. We were cheering them on and I see her bloody from the face looking like someone elbowed her. Then our best guy was leading the first mile then his calfs cramped and he chocked. Things werent good, but next season we about to go all out.

How are you? Are you pretty fast? I know I was slow af when i first joined. My first 5k was 30:30 lmao, now im way better curios to see how a freshman is looking now, if youre decent you can probably wipe my times in your jr year (thats my current grade).

eh, youll improve. One month in between and youve improved by a whole minute. Keep pushing bro. I should say I was a PE tryhard lol. I was running 6:36 mile times but completely lost my fitness during quarantine and never did cross. Jr year I got convinced to join, went from 30:30 to 18:40 in my final 5k. Keep pushing bro you got it. A lot of people like to compare themselves to their friends, thats all fun and good but it could lead to you disliking the sport. Just focus on yourself, thats what i did. These are your times not anyone elses you gotta work towards improving yourself even if its small. What helped me was focusing on not stopping unless I absolutely had to. I would straigh up almost pass out at the mile mark in the beggining and thats when i took a quick breather, 15 seconds; pick it up again. Have fun man thats all that matters.

Nice, the football coach from our school kept asking me to play football(im trash but this year our team was going 0-6 lmao) but I cant throw to save my life. Ive played tennis casually pretty fun, and never done any type of combat sport. Are you doing any winter season sports? Idk how it is in your school but currently the sports going on are basketball and soccer for us.

With football I meant European football so soccer and I do that outside of school in an amateur club. But yeah in winter I go skiing whenever I can I mean it’s Austrias national sport so I kinda have to and I really enjoy it :)

Nice, i got confused on the football part since here its american footbal(cringe) and its a fall sport. Is karate year round? For sports like cross country and track we only ever take like 3 week brakes between seasons then continue running 2-3 miles easy pace until our season starts again. So im curious if you do karate year round, take breaks, or if you have your own schedule you tailor to yourself.

#24

Karate is all year round twice a week but it wasn’t possible sometimes in the last two years because of covid regulations so I wasn’t able to do my tests for the black belt :/ Also I had little to no fights so I’m really out of shape but I hope I can bounce back

Badminton and ping pong are fun. Tennis just wasn't it for me. Thankfully these are not contact sports though bc I don't feel comfortable with those especially with the current epidemic. But yea I'm still not that healthy, doing like 20 min of sports like twice a week is not considered healthy. I mean it's healthy enough to not be a degenerate but I don't think I would consider it "healthy".

I used to do taekwondo every other day but then I kinda realized that idk taekwondo kinda has a problem with handing out higher belts way too easily. I felt that I really didn't achieve anything even though I certainly got much better at martial arts bc ITF taekwondo is closer to karate unlike WTF taekwondo which is literally just a sport. It's not really the fact that I didn't learn anything, but more the fact that I just didn't feel I achieved what I got. I haven't really considered taking martial arts again in a while but I am thinking about like Brazilian Jiu Jutsu bc I do have a dojo which presumably has that near by.

Run bro, 20 minutes you can your max 3 miles minimum 2 miles at super easy pace (10 min per mile). If youre in HS try your cross/track team can be a super easy sport to get into. Is competitive if you like that, or casual if you just wanna have fun. You meet new people get to skip out on classes for races, and just have fun. Im super biased since i love running. But I would recommend it to everyone even if you just wanna run on your own and listen to music.

lol idky, but I personally don't like running that much, same reason I don't really like tennis. I like moving, but I don't like running. I really don't know why. I mostly don't do many sports bc they conflict with other stuff tho. I usually would go for a small jog every so often but it's winter rn so uhh, pretty cold where i am and a lot of snow so nah rn.

#45

Give it a try, install strava put some songs and start running. There are 2 methods to running, but you should start running at a pace that feels comfortable to you. Dont expect to be running 6 mins per mile just do you. I would recommend only running 2 miles max on a track since it gets incredibly boring looping it 8 times. 10 minutes per mile speed wise is super slow but if thats the pace you feel comfortable in then do that. You can either run for time or distance. Some people prefer running for time because it helps improve speed over time. While others like me go for set distances. I think for a beginner you should run a quick mile see what pace you feel good with. Dont go all out just go casually, make sure you breath both mouth and nose and get that heart pumping. Once you get that mile time check what you got, lets say you got 8 mins. The next day go for 2 miles or aim to run 20 minutes. I would go for set distances at your easy pace and over time you will improve. Now lets say you got your 2 mile time to be 16 minutes. Check your splits, see what you got for mile 1 and what you got for mile 2. If you got 7 minutes for mile 1, then 9 for mile 2 then youre exerting yourself too much during mile 1. At that point you should try and run 16 minutes and check your distance maybe youve improved your time and now youre running 2.3 miles in 16. Or you go for 2 miles again and try to get maybe like and 8 mile one and an 8 mile 2. Its about what feels comfortable for you. Gl bro

I was close to passing out 1 mile in running 8 mile pace because of how unfit I was. Now im at the upper quartile of people, (im not elite not even close) and i love to help out when I can. Idk if you can dm people in here if you need some advice and you can feel free to reach out. Happy new years to you as well hope you come to like it as much as i do cheers!

Nice, good for you, american football or soccer football? For american football I only ever played flag football during PE and was only good at being a wide reciver because I was actually fast. I could not throw to save my life lol. But on the side of soccer football then Im pretty decent, mexican so its kinda our sport therefore I had to play as a kid. Really fun but people are a lot better than me. ive tried badminton and its fun but bro i swear the birdie just phases through the racket lmao. And can you elaborate on cricket professionally? I never played cricket so I dont know if theres leagues to it or what the process to doing it seriously would be

just normal football where u kick a ball into a goal

#65
Marty

Depending on where you are "normal football" is different. Im in NA so football here is soccer there so I asked you to elaborate. Either way good for you but dont you find games like badminton boring in comparison to football? Unless you play goalie then youre gonna be moving a lot which is a stark contrast to a game like badminton.

#66
ShadowisBAD
-1
Frags

yeah batminton is more fun when u can hit the racket harder , then its more challenging

cricket is where i play the best , for my school team ,
theres like a few stages
Newbies - they JUST started playing the game , dont know how to hold the bat and just throw the ball without not knowing how to bowl , at this stage , fielding is where u just have to stop/ catch the ball
Somewhat newbies but know the basics
past the newbie stage
average player
good player
rly good player - Ok ok this may sound egotistical , i dont mean it to be , but im only putting myself here cuz my coach told me that im one of if not the best player in the school / in ur age , this is where like u play "professionally" for a TEAM that isnt like gully cricket or street cricket , here u have to wear proper cricket dress , and the ball that u play with isnt a tennis ball , the ball will be HARD as FUCK , its called a cork ball and the bat is like not a tennis ball bat , if u use the tennis ball bat here , the bat would break after playing like 2 balls, here the stakes are higher , u get awards like man of the match etc , and u represent ur entire school / academy in these games , theres a lot more to explain but im lazy sry

#68

All good, I understand a lot more now. Its basically just any other sport. For example, all of us can run, but only a few people will actually be good enough to get into the Varsity team (top 5 runners in the school) and represent us against other teams. How big are the badminton events? For Cross country some events were HUGE, we had our state championships (I ran a 18:44 5k this race) and there were like 30 different schools, and like 180-300 people per race (there were 10 races so there were thousands off of runners alone)

Ay man everything counts and it takes time to get into a set routine. Running for me has been great and I recommend continuing with that consistently. Cycling is extremely fun and you can pair alternatively with running to get your entire leg muscles fully developed (Running works calf-shins and everything below, cycling does upper part of legs). its all about consistency once you get into a routine youll start seeing results. You got it man just keep pushing for that goal. GL and welcome to the new year.
