There is currently this narrative going on that Aspas is absolutely carrying his team on their back and that his other teammates players are contributing very little to Aspas' frags, or that he is entering sites without any support. So I've gone back and watched every single match of LEV vs SEN (his former bo3 world recrd) and its just clear as day how untrue this is. EVERY, and I am not being hyperbolic, single one of his kills were supported by utility or by his teammates applying pressure, either by flooding with Aspas or elsewhere. And as proof, I have catalogued every single one of his kills on this map of Lotus.
U: denotes a utility-backed kill, with U(Sm) indicating that the kill was backed by a Viper/Harbour wall or smoke.
T: denotes a kill that is supported by teammates, T(Tr) indicates that the teammate is either following behind Aspas or is baiting for him, and T(Fl) representing a flank kill that Aspas has made while his team applies pressure elsewhere.
Lotus LEV vs SEN 2024 Stage 1
Round Kill type Total Number of Kills Remarks
1 1 x U (Sm) 1 kinGG drops the wall to allow Aspas a kill onto Tenz
3 1 x U(Sm) 1 kinGG's wall blocks off Zekken, C0m's fade eye clears front of rubble, allowing Aspas to safely satchel onto rubble wall and completely focus on door where Tenz was situated
4 1 x U(Sm), 1 x U 2
7 2 x T(L) 2 Aspas flanks Sentinels while their attention is entirely gathered on B site
8 1 x U (Sm), 2 x T(Fr) 3 It was a round loss and 2 of the kills were spam kills on bomb. Still, there were still multiple Lev members alive ready to trade him
9 1 x U (Sm) 1 Kill made while Sacy was decayed
10 1 x U(Sm) 1 Kill made while Zekken was decayed and pushing through Viper wall
11 1 x U 1 This one was actually ALL Mazino, a perfect paranoia that isolate Zekken and turns Tenz' one way against him
15 1 x U, 2 x T(Tr) 2 Again, a beautiful paranoia by Mazino that forces Tenz to tp away. Tex applies pressure on Zekken and dies, allowing Aspas to trade off him and flood onto site, and then kills Tenz who is still blinded. He then trades off Kinggg
16 1 x U(Sm), 1 x T(Tr), 1 x U 3 Gets a kill off someone pushing through Viper wall, then trades C0m. Gets comm that Sacy is stuck in tree, ults him.
17 3 x T(Tr), 3 Double faces with C0m, gets a kill on Tenz. Gets a double while flooding onto site while Tex and C0m are providing covering fire against Sacy
18 2 x T(Tr) 2 Trades C0m, trades Tex, loses the clutch
19 1 x T(Tr) 1 Trades C0m. This kill is the pure embodiment and proof that EVERYTHING Lev does is purely to enable Aspas. C0m is leading the charge, KNIFE OUT, jump strafing, being most juicy bait in Valorant existence
20 2 x T(Tr) 2 Trades C0m who was baiting enemies into him, gives Aspas his ult which he uses to kill Zellsis
27 2 x U 2 Util dump onto Zellsis, but it was Aspas' nade that secures the kill. Aspas gets a kill on a tethered JohnQT
28 1 x T(Tr) 1 Trades C0m
29 1 x T(L) 1 Round loss but gets a kill on an unware Zellsis while the rest of his team is dead
30 2 x T 2 Mazino sticks the defuse, forcing Sentinels to dry swing into Aspas
31 2 x U (Sm) 2 Pushes through Mazino's flood smoke and gets 2. Tex and C0m follow behind to trade his death. Unfortunately JohnQT gets a triple on them since they were all vulnerable but Kinggg clutches out the round with help from Maazino
33 1 x T 1 Everyone from Lev gets a kill here while Sen makes a failed flood attempt
34 2 x T 2 Mazino draws Zekken's crosshair away from Aspas who was hiding behind box by making noise while running at C door. Aspas gets another while Texx holds the defuse.
35 1 x T(Tr), 1 x U, 1 x U(Sm) 3 Trades C0m. Texxx mollies off A heaven to clear close, which inadvertently misleads Zellsis into thinking that they are all playing on site, causing him to run, util out, into Aspas on heaven. Final kill: Kinggg drops his wall onto an unsuspecting JohnQT
36 1 x U(Sm), 1 x T 2 Gets a kill on a knife out JohnQT who was tricked by the sound cues of C0m running away + Kinggg's viper wall still being up. Mazino distracts Tenz with a swing and cover fire, allowing Aspas to get a kill onto him
Tldr;
You actually CANNOT say that Aspas carried this team ALONE. He might have been against C9, but against Sentinels, this is a clear case of the team playing TOGETHER to enable Aspas. Aspas is quite possibly, the only player in the world who can capitalise on the advantages that his teammates feed him, but it is completely false to claim that Aspas is winning rounds ALONE, when he has not won, nor has ever been required to win, a singe clutch round on this map.
Aspas is dropping 40 bombs BECAUSE of his teammates, not IN SPITE of them.
