let me do your job for you (essay warning).

Keep Cryo - the guy is an undisputed top 3 OP in the world and his rifling is ridiculously good too. His agent pool kinda sucks arse and is difficult to build around but Cryoballs is worth it, this guy was dropping 30 for fun on Brim in Masters playoffs last year

Keep eeiu - not his best map on ascent but the util, clutch factor and aim is ridiculous, one of those guys who just deletes ppl in 1 or 2 bullets consistently. Plus he's hot

Keep Zander but switch roles - I have to admit that Zander has grown on me, I didnt see his value initially because he is a mechanical downgrade to bang but his assists, util and anchoring ability is crazy good. also he used to be an igl so surely that helps him midround on the team. I think he should role switch to senti not because he is bad but because it accomodates cryos weird agent pool. The anchoring ability, the discipline is already there and having a guy who can play sentinel, viper, smokes if they run double duelist comps is a huge W. Plus he's also hot

Drop Asuna - LET ME BE CLEAR, ASUNA IS GOOD but similar to mindfreak or Haodong, this team needs a mental and cultural reset. Asuna could be a great initiator elsewhere but he is stuck playing Neon and Raze for 100T to accomodate for cryos weird agent pool. He just isnt a duelist, yes he is agressive but he is a gamesense player and those roles do not get the best out of him. Let him go to EG or C9 or tier 2 and look like a beast when he has an out and out entry duelist

Drop Boostio - A great floor raiser but the ceiling will always be glass with him. The stats and eyetest speak for themselves tbh, great culture setter for the team in 2024 but they arent struggling for confidence anymore and this team has hit its ceiling with him

Drop Zikz or move him to AC - Again, great culture setter with raising players confidence but he has proven to be too inflexible imo. Not every map is EG fracture where you can turn a quirky agent pick into a revolutionary comp, but this guy sticks to his guns even when he is clearly wrong and in a game like valorant which has 2-3 metas per year this just hurts the team.

Who should they go for?

Keiko is a world class duelist and smokes player who is a free agent at the end of the year, and allegedly EMEA salaries can't compete with NA ones. WORLD CLASS, PERFECT FIT FOR CRYO, FREE AGENT. I stg you guys are so dumb if you dont atleast negotiate with this guy.

Vora is an igl who plays a lot of initiator but has shown capability to play other roles, such as smokes or sentinel. He would also have guys like eeiu and Zander to help him adjust to life as a tier 1 igl

Potter is very unlikely because of buyout and Mini would probably say no, so mCe is probably the best coach available and he is currently HC for Maryville and AC for GE. Surely we can pry him away with a head coaching job for a Tier 1 team

well if you read the post then youd see that Keikos contract expires after the season, Liquid wouldnt really get a choice if 100T offered him a better deal (NA salaries are way higher) and he chose to accept it

I threw this idea around in another sub, my reasoning was that Mike’s was more of the issue than Stellar. Stellar didn't have guys like Zander/Eeiu on the team to help him with calling (they also didn't have a real coaching staff, which was a whole other issue.)

#49

I think that Derrek + Mikes was the issue on 2023 100T. they also were in an unlucky meta as it was so Raze + solo skye heavy, cause cryo sucked at Raze and Derrek sucked at solo skye so it caused a huge confidence crisis for them which kinda derailed the season and led to some wacky comps (remember Derrek Killjoy on Lotus?).

I think Mikes is the type of guy who is overqualified to be an AC but underqualified to be a HC, Id love to have him back at 100T if he had a HC with a strong FPS background (Happy from NAVI perhaps?).

Imagine the team I proposed but with Stellar, Happy and Mikes? They would cook I fear

I'd agree with that. You can also make the case that Cryo never should have been placed on Raze (but he likely was doing well in scrims, so they went with it). They could have put him on Omen (OR SENTINEL LIKE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR YEARS) more since they eventually put bang in Viper jail anyways. Imo they should have leaned into double duelist more. Cryo Jett + Asuna Raze probably would have worked out better than what they did even if the comp wasn't meta. Mikes biggest issue was putting players on agents/roles that didn't fit them. I'll also give Cryo some leeway for his Raze performances because it was directly after Chamber meta where he was more of a lurker, so he wasn't really in the mindset to play a hard entry. His success on Yoru and his aggressiveness on Yoru the last year makes me think he could develop into a good or average Raze player if he was required to play it now.

Derrek def got unlucky and it was braindead when he was put on Harbor on Pearl when Sova was still viable. I think Mikes was good at defensive setups as an AC like you said but I wouldn't want him to have input on comps or anything offensive related. I still believe in Zikz personally, and but would love to give him another year with a different IGL. If that goes south, I'd say it's time to move on. If they could do Happy and Zikz as AC like he was on EG I'd be more down for that than a 3rd reunion with Mikes, I don't love the idea of Stellar and Mikes being on the same team again.

Neither him nor Vora really play Senti (outside of Sage for Vora), but both play Initiator, and Kyu has played Viper in the past. I just think he's a better caller than Vora, where Vora is a better fragger. If you get Keiko, wouldn't he be on Omen on certain maps, which would allow Zander to swap to Viper? Or would Cryo play Omen, and Keiko play Raze/Neon on maps like Lotus, for example?

#29

You are exactly correct, I only mention the need to play viper because of the raze + yoru + double controller comps that are currently quite popular

In these comps it would be Keiko = Raze, cryo = yoru and Zander = Omen, so my theoretical igl would need to fill viper

#32
goat1594

Gotcha. I like the idea of Cryo being on a secondary duelist in certain comps compared to being asked to entry 24/7. I'm glad they leaned heavily into him on Yoru despite losing at EWC because he is clearly very good with him. I also agree with your Asuna point; whenever I ask for him to be replaced, people take it as me trashing on him, but you just can't go 5 years with him and have no success. He will have personal success elsewhere where he gets to play agents like Fade/Kayo/etc. full time, but he makes no sense on the current roster where he is asked to play Neon/Raze on a consistent basis. People often think because you are aggressive means you should be on duelist which isn't true. Love the idea of Keiko replacing him.

#48

yeah I think Asuna really suits the role that TenZ picked up in 2024, where he was the second entry for a top tier duelist. Even before he played it against FNC I really wanted him to play omen (you can read my comment history) on some maps because it really would suit him to be able to be both aggressive and also have utility that can be used for the team.

If you were to put him on a team like C9 next to Oxy where he could play initiator + omen then he would absolutely fry imo

#53
goat1594

That's true, I'm surprised they never experimented with Asuna on Omen. Thinking about it now it would suit him well because his utility is genuinely insane.

I agree, if you are swapping someone on the roster to IGL it would be eeiu not Zander. Zander has said numerous times he doesn't want to IGL again and only did it on M80 bc he had too bc no one else wanted to do it after Johnqt left.

Players like eeiu are sometimes better as midrounders tho, just look at Crashies after FNS left. There's a reason Ethan took over in 2024. It makes some players much worse.

#19

I think Ethan struggling had more to do with the team environment and Chet than his ability as an IGL. He's looking fine as an IGL now that he has a real coach. I don't think anyone on the roster should swap to IGL but I was just saying it makes more sense for him to do it than zander considering zander doesn't want too.

If I'm gonna keep it completely real I don't see Cryo's future on a top top team competing for the biggest trophies in the game. True he drops nukes on occasion but they don't happen very often against the very best teams like other top players regularly do. And you can't win consistently in this game with that kind of agent pool in the year of 2025; eventually you have to beat a team with MULTIPLE fraggers that can guard Cryo and will out-DM 100T, or a team that's smart enough to hard-anti and poke holes in the weird comps that 100T has to play to accommodate Cryo's bad agent pool, or will have strats that take the edge off of his Operator significantly. All the teams at the highest level have all three, and we saw what happened to 100T when they ran into those kinds of teams when they played GenG and Heretics in Shanghai, or almost anytime they've played Sentinels in like the past two years.

The only thing that makes a player like Cryo viable on a championship-winning team is a flex that can reach aspas peaks on duelist and then hit Karon peaks on smokes on the very next map. There has never been a player like that in the history of this game, and there probably won't be for a very long time. The only player that got close imo was jawgemo, and we saw how well he synced with a player similar to Cryo in Demon1. Aside from the fact that such a player doesn't exist, there's also the problem that the players in my head that could maybe be molded to fit that role won't join 100T either because they're currently on better teams than 100T or are language-barrier-d. Keiko is not on that list, his peaks aren't close to being high enough to fit that role. As much as it's been refreshing to see a good Jett Operator abuser after 100T went so long without one and continued to get shit on by that same type of player as a result, I'm afraid the timing of actually getting Cryo wasn't the best, 100T didn't really do too much in the 2022-2023 season where a player like that was at their peak (through no fault of their own tbf, Sean Gares left almost a week later and that almost singlehandedly torpedoed the season).

Now that you're done reading this yapfest, you should know that I also said for years that PRX couldn't win a trophy because their playstyle is too dogshit, and my words rang true until their friend boaster secretly sent all Fnatic's strats to mini the night before so he could anti and tactically threw the final so he could give his friends f0rsaken and j0nggg the opportunity to finally touch some silverware for once in their lives. So moral of the story is to mog PRX and give Mini more money than whatever they're paying him + a personal PJ to fly to Piddletrenthidechestershire anytime he's feeling burnt out.

I think you fail to be slightly realistic tho. We don't need a player who can switch from Aspas/Karon. We need a player who is able to entry as Raze/Neon and has good utility when flexing as well. A player who will just not be shit, doesn't have to be amazing, just average. In a scene where star players are basically limited to 1-2 per team except for the super successful teams, it doesn't make sense to drop the player who has been our highest rated player in the last 2 years. Now his agent pool needs to be better, but he has been improving split after split, playing more agents.

Cryo and Eeiu are our star players right now with fantastic fragging ability. Zander has been an average player with great util that I feel could be able to stay on this team. If we can replace Asuna and Boostio for a solid average fragging IGL and a solid sentinel, that's a really good team right there.

I've watched this team get so close to greatness just to trip over the last few hurdles every time for about 4 years since they won First Strike. If we're dropping players, I don't want a replacement duelist that does "just enough". I want the lovechild of an aspas, kang kang, derke, Thanos, and Superman quintuple polyamorous relationship that has even mastered the duelist that will release on the 10th anniversary of the game. But on a more serious note, I want you to sit down, choose any 100T game from this season, count how many times asuna entries with zero util/util that was mistimed/no one to trade him, and then compare it to how many times he entries with good util or a trade. Then compare that to the stats from any game from the Stage2->Shanghai run last year. Asuna has proven many times that he's an amazing entry. But none of that matters when the teamwork is lacking, even the aforementioned quinthrouple lovechild can't get consistent entries and take over a game when they're basically a Sova drone ult orb that has to be given to the other team to make a round playable. I genuinely cannot understand why 100T fans want a player like Asuna gone so badly, did we not learn from when everyone wanted bang gone too just to see what he was truly capable of after he went to a team that had consistently good fundamentals and took advantage of his strengths?

#36
KGad03

No I agree with your Asuna points, he is an amazing entry with sometimes uber-aggressive tendencies. But it's been 5 years and I think both parties could use a mental reset apart ngl. The thing is, you say that you want a Aspas, Derke, KK, Thanos, Superman, but players like that don't exist. If they did, they would've been found and picked up by now.

But it doesn't matter how good your duelist is, even the aforementioned quinthrouple lovechild can't get consistent entries and take over a game when they're basically a Sova drone ult orb that has to be given to the other team to make a round playable.

And there are players that can entry and get kills very often: Zekken, Kajaak, Buzz, Jawgemo, T3xture.

did we not learn from when everyone wanted bang gone too just to see what he was truly capable of after he went to a team that had consistently good fundamentals and took advantage of his strengths

Also Bang got poached man, he would still be on 100T if Sen didn't decide to swoop in

And there are players that can entry and get kills very often: Zekken, Kajaak, Buzz, Jawgemo, T3xture.

They're not just dropping 30 because they feel like it. Their entries are supported by good util or their teammates entering with them or trading them. Notice how all those players also have some of the best or most in form support players on the planet right now also playing on their team. None of those duelists that you named are performing nearly as well as they currently are if they're playing on 100T.

Also Bang got poached man, he would still be on 100T if Sen didn't decide to swoop in

Not the point, point is that he went to a team with better fundamentals and structure, now he's qualified to more Masters in 6 months than he ever did at 100T. SEN fans were convinced he would be dogshit and could never fill tenz' shoes when the transfer first leaked, that's how bad his rep was on 100T. He was literally the biggest Potential Man out of all the NA smokes players while he was on 100T. Now they don't ever have to worry about replacing tenz because he stepped up and filled that smokes role very well. That very same player was playing for 100T around this time last year and didn't look nearly as good save for the Stage 2->Shanghai run. Same exact thing will happen with Asuna, watch.

I honestly believe Cryo is way too passive to be playing duelist full time, we are in a era now where players are expected to be insanely gifted mechanically and able to entry frag consistently (Jawgemo/canezerra for example), I believe he should be full time controller or if he wants to take a leaf/yay role transitioning to sentinel

Kyu/Vora are for sure great fragging IGLs which will help with the inconsistency issues Boostio had this season

Don't think 100T are that ambitious to go for a guy like Keiko and the tier 2 NA duelist agent pool is pretty deep for this season with guys like Infiltrator and penny (if apeks gets kicked)
