Vitality's newest star has had a fast rise through the competitive system. After roughly eight months in the tier 2 Balkans scene with Balkan Stars Balkan Stars Inactive , runneR signed with Diamant on a year-long deal that would see him claw ever closer to regional glory. He spent his debut months dominating Eastern European tournaments and, between them, his Macedonian squad OBK OBK Inactive reached top four at the RBCC World Finals.
Diamant got off to a slow start in 2023, when they received an invite for the VCL East. In the first stage, despite finishing fourth in the regular season, runneR's roster bombed out of Split 1 in sixth. A much more consolidated effort saw Diamant finish the second split's regular season in second, with Acend Acend Europe Rank #5 leading the table. The team was later eliminated from the playoffs in third; Diamant also finished third in the league's overall points standings, one place shy of clinching Eastern Europe's second VCT Ascension EMEA slot.
runneR is the first piece in Vitality's 2024 rebuild. The team is currently working to replace three former members — Karel "Twisten" Ašenbrener, Santeri "BONECOLD" Sassi, and MOLSI — and already has one more player reportedly lined up. After runneR, Vitality are expected to add Saif "Sayf" Jibraeel and Kimmie "Kicks" Laasner, according to two reports from Alejandro Gomis of BLIX.GG
Vitality is also keeping most of its coaching staff for 2023, hoping to rebuild from near-scratch and improve on their sixth-place finish in the 2023 VCT EMEA.
