G2 Esports G2 Esports North America Rank #4 icy Jacob Lange trent Trent Cairns valyn Jacob Batio JonahP Jonah Pulice leaf Nathan Orf have signed former Evil Geniuses Evil Geniuses North America Rank #21 Derrek Derrek Ha NaturE Nicholas Garrison supamen Phat Le Apoth Vincent Le jawgemo Alexander Mor reserve player Jacob "icy" Lange, completing their roster heading into VCT Americas 2024 Stage 1. He replaces Michael "neT" Bernet, the longtime sentinel who was released the day before this signing.

Aside from his time with Evil Geniuses, icy mostly spent time in the North American tier two and tier three scene for teams like YFP Gaming YFP Gaming North America Rank #24 penny Erik Penny thief Brady Dever bones Ethan Le Jonaaa6 Jonard Penaflor fiziq Lucas Blow and OREsports OREsports Inactive nillyaz Chase Linder Paincakes Jake Hass . He has played a little bit of every role throughout his three-year career but is known for his sentinel gameplay.

Despite being rostered on EG, he was never fielded in a match, like most reserve players in 2023. Vincent "Apoth" Le was the only other former EG reserve player to receive a spot in VCT 2024 before this signing.

G2 will face off against Apoth and EG to start Stage 1.

The gameplay will tell the story. I can already feel the issues brewing. Who’s next to go because with Valyjn and Trent’s egos there isn’t much space for anyone else on the stage. JonahP will have to be the glue that he has been throughout. They are going to miss nET and his unselfish play. He was the best team player on the squad.

Seems like neT's value to the team was primarily that of a second caller/midrounder. His fragging has often been towards the bottom of the leaderboard (not saying he didn't have his moments, but overall probably the weakest player on the team mechanically, although his recent performances were quite good). Now that they have leaf, who is also a very vocal player and did a lot of midround calls for C9 last year, maybe they feel like that role just isn't as needed anymore. We'll see how it goes. I definitely think neT could be a huge upgrade to any tier 2 team and maybe even some tier 1 teams who are in need of a secondary caller.

Guard did not snake the players. they made the decision that they would lose money by continuing in val and after that they let all players go without buyout so they could still play franchise.

G2 signed the players for the spot and is now dropping them when they deserve their t1 spot
