is going to shanghai lowkey a trap

based on how madrid attendees(particularly in NA and EMEA) have suffered because of the schedule tightness, will attending shanghai cause more issues than its worth for teams? is dodging shanghai quietly good for some teams to give them more prep time?

tbh im more saying this off the back of loud and kc
loud obviously got stuck in ireland n shit and got left very far behind the meta, but kc have also struggled because they havent had time to fix their midrounding issues and innovate more like they were able to for kickoff
and missing shanghai will probably benefit both of those teams in terms of fixing those issues imo

loud issues are fixable in a very short time tho and they did vs sen

kc issues are actual issues that could kill the team , i think KC missing shaghai will benefit them WAAY mroe than loud

i still think they're relatively behind the meta, that one win has not convinced me in the slightest that theyve adjusted back
they played basic icebox harbor viper and a deadlock lotus that does not have legs, they won that map off the back of absolutely perfect calling from saadhak

loud made the viper habor meta last year and completely changed themselves and played fade / breach for champs , i can guarantee u loud has always been a team thriving off saadhak calling
also their map pool isnt dogshit anymore cuz they can play ascent

skill issue innit

cant call yourself the best team in the world by playing 5 matches every 7 months innit

look at geng prx

that just screams bad example to me, geng and prx 1) are on the right end of a large gap in talent between the top apac teams and the field, and 2) still havent looked exactly unbeatable, drx easily look better than both of them

not after benching a dude and bringing in another guy + having like 7 months of prac with 40 fresh new vods of geng and prx?

dont think so , the reason madrid teams fell off was cuz teams who didnt make madrid finally adapted to the gekko meta

well thats kind of what im referring to, teams that didnt make madrid had more time to adapt to meta changes and innovate
meanwhile you look at loud and theyre still trying to adjust from their expired phoenix exploration with no time to properly catch up to current meta
like missing shanghai is almost best case scenario for them because they need time pretty desperately

ya but the meta doesnt mid change mid year
it never has , first event is usually teams making a new meta and thriving the rest of the year is the actual best teams learning and playing the meta

i mean the meta hasnt really changed but its more that loud tried a gimmick that left them behind the meta, and now they're playing catch up which is reflecting in their performances

nah, going to international event always mean money, its stupid to throw a chance for master just because "I can prep more for champions" (which isn't guaranteed that you'll qualify for it"

yeah when they miss champs too lets see what will it be this time

i dont think any team is throwing to miss masters, thats absurd
i do think that qualifying will hurt multiple teams' performances at champs or chances to qualify for champs though

ehhhhhh, does it really? last year we have multiple teams that always attend master and do great in both masters and champion (prx loud fnatic drx eg)

i think its different this year, tokyo was like months before champs with only lcq in between, here there's much less time to rest and innovate because theres another split that follows after shanghai

make sense I guess, but I'm still not sure a team that attend masters grand final will bomb out in 1st regional match (grandfinal is 10 june and first regional split is a week after that)

I just dont see the difference on "rest-time" between not qualifying masters vs getting last place in masters, you still get more time compared to others either way & also masters money

It’s more about not having a lot of time to rest. This year format is so bad that Masters event is the things most teams should avoid and has to focus for Champions Seoul
