Dont get me wrong Koreans are some of the best there is when it comes to FPS games but with the news of DFM trying to sign 3 korean players they are essentially a korean team now.

There are a lot of talents in southeast asia specifically with thailand and indonesia i just dont get why every year every team is looking to add more and more koreans to their roster.

Edit: RRQ picked up a Korean player....

Could be because you need Korean citizenship to play in the league.

Also, Koreans have the benefit of being able to play and scrim with vct teams since Pacific vct is in Korea.

citizenship? you mean residence permit?

his second point doesnt make sense either

The second point is valid (sort of). The teams in the Korean VCL have an easier time finding partnered teams to scrim against. Although Japan should be fine as well ping wise. SEA should have a much harder time in theory.

It's similar in Americas, where NA VCL teams constantly scrim all the partner teams whereas the SA VCL teams can only scrim each other, so their quality of scrims is inherently lower.

Apart from india and oce, every region in Pacific can play with each other with reasonable ping (50ish), so it doesn't really make a difference here. Im sure theres a lot of sea teams who scrims with franchised teams often

how did you make two points that don't make any sense

Both points make sense, the first one just confuses visa and citizenship.

Your second point is kind of valid. Idk how these people don't understand the point.

Did you forget that the league is held in Korea?

yeah sure the league is held in korea but there are a lot of talented people in pacific not just in Korea. I'm sure the orgs can do something about their visas

they dont but japanese teams do because korean pros can speak japanese and easier to learn as korean. And korea is close to japan so they can scrim with similar ping w each other and its just culturally easier to pick up a korean pro instead of a SEA pro.

Maybe bcs Korean and Japanese culture is similar and Korean players know japanese more compared to other region players also they are located close to each other geographically

they look SEA is a minority that's why, even tho SEA have a lot of good talent, they prefer kr for some reason

i agree with you there but are we just gonna let this slip into a downward spiral where korea start overcrowding the pacific scene and with little opportunities for the rest of Pacific and then everyone falls behind.

I can see this happening in the same way where taiwan in the Garena Premier League(basically LCS but for SEA teams) devoured the scene.

It won't happen because koreans are unlikely to join sea teamd which makes most of the league because there are too many countries and languages

to be fair T1 is close to signing xccurate an indo pro and im kinda excited especially for all that experience he will bring.. So If you exclude japanese teams and GE I guess its not really much tbh. Its just because there are 3 korean teams that got franchised that makes it look a lot worse than it is. Most likely SEA teams will win the next 2 ascensions so theres that hopefully.

sure Korea is the dominant country in valorant pacific right now but I'm talking in terms of long-term sustainability of the scene as a whole.

How long will India keep cheering for GE if they only have 1 Indian representative each game? How long will Japan keep cheering for DFM if they go full Korean? You may disagree with me but I think its not good for the long term health of the scene for it to be dominated by 1 country.

it's because it's cheaper to just sign a Korean player since you don't need to play for the player working permit

I feel like theres just a really weird obsession of Korean talent right now. Aside from DRX and T1, the quality of Korean pros are really not that much better than the average SEA pro, especially in tier 2. And the argument that Korea had the 2nd and 3rd best team in pacific does not make sense. Korea had 3 teams in the league while SEA teams had one team from each country. And T1 does not prove that Korea has a deeper talent pool, especially in tier 2. T1, aside from intro, consisted of Korean players who were already established and played outside of Korea (NA and Japan) alongside a coach that worked in NA. The development of those players is not the result of the Korean T2 environment. No other region benefits from that. But despite that, it feels like orgs think picking up a random T2 Korean player will be the final piece of the puzzle even though talent from the rest of Asia can probably provide the same thing.

Also I think another big reason is that the league is based in Korea and its way easier for orgs to pick Korean players as they don't have to deal with visa issues. That's honestly pretty fair but it can be really damaging to the rest of Asia. Honestly I wished riot changes the location of the league every few years if its possible because at this point Korea, Japan, and China will have such a large advantage because they get to regularly practice with the best teams in Asia with decent ping while Korean talent just gains an insane advantage that makes them more likely to be picked up because they don't have to deal with visa issues. I'm pretty sure this same problem is affecting Brazil and LATAM in Americas as well.

it makes sense for jp and cn teams to pick up kr talent because of similar cultures and the fact that many kr players can speak the language too. i don’t think many sea pros speak or understand jp at all. also, i don’t think many sea teams at all look for kr talent, maybe coaches. but rrq picking up estrella was weird ngl

bro riot choose korea bcs they had the best esport facilities in asia beside china, not just cuz visa issue. did u see the lvl of high production in pacific league? literally the best out of the 3 league. actually yall should stop getting buthurt over korea srsly. back then ppl complaining abt 3 slots and kr manage to place all of their teams in top 4 now yall complaining abt org picking kr talents. get over it.

I feel like koreans have tried being humble about this. But lets be honest no other asian country exports talent like korea. They have upcoming talent leaving korea and coming back left and right. It is not their fault in the end the org chooses a korean player even after trialing their own players lol.... Annoying seeing all this fans talking left and right when their own regions are suffering from their nepotism and issues.

And you saying that east asia teams have an advantage with better scrims is just telling us that east asia has better teams. So why are you talking about "overvalued" korean talent when you just complaining how east asia has better scrims. If SEA teams had better teams and practice/pros they would produce higher quality scrims. Cant seem to understand your point when talking about how they have better access to quality scrims. That just means they have better teams which means better pros.... Ping advantage? If sea teams were better they wouldnt feel the need to scrim east asia teams man! If your gonna complain dont question koreas ability to produce talent but question ur own orgs decision making.

bc koreans are good and DFM who are a japenese org wants to get people from the japenese tier 2 scene but the japan tier 2 scene is pretty heavily dominated by koreans, the most recent split there was 5 koreans out of the top 6 players in the league
