I recently started going to the pool to learn to swim. Best decision of my life. The first 2 days were a bit tiring and scary. Once you get used to the water the fear gets away and fun begins. I also learned how to dive. I never thought i could do that. For a few days i tried to take the jump but backed down out of fear, haha. Once you take the jump it's joever. You want to keep jumping, everyday. Also, swimming is a great way to burn fat and increase endurance. I can feel my body getting better.

One con of swimming in a pool is body tanning due to chlorine. Apart from that everything seems to be pros.
Swimming is underrated.

Some of my friends have very low body fat percentage but still able to swim and float. I think it needs time. It took me some time to backfloat. Front floating is easy. You need to have a bit of air inside your lungs. Don't exhale out all the air. With practice things get better.

How high do you dive from?
I remember asking my instructor to push me 'cause I was too scared to jump initially from 14 ft high

The experience you get between the time you jump and the time you land on the water is so thrilling and exhilarating. I still get excited when I dive from so high
You should try that.

Swimming is great to get into but gets very tiring when you try it competitively :)

Don't mention it. I'm out of breath thinking about competitive swimming.

Yeah I used to swim 12km a day + 1hour workout. Just thinking about it makes me exhausted.

#42

12000 meters per day seems 🧢 cap.

#44

that does not seem cap, it is cap. 2km is already a lot.

I think ramz meant to say 'run' instead of 'swim'.

my sports teacher in school threw me in the pool when i was in 4th-5th grade and i couldnt swim. now i hate pools🗿

Your teacher was a chad 🗿 to give you incentive to learn swimming. Not learning to swim after that is unchadly behaviour from you.

i just flap around and get around but i do not go anywhere near the end where it is deeper than me 🗿 i panic and cannot float

#34
Zikos

Frags

You need to push down with your hands to reach above water and start threading water. If you learn to thread then no panic 🗿

#45

if u panic u can always go on your back like a star and you will float

used to swim competetively when i was younger. raced in the 500m. Now I can barely swim 500m total, even without flip turns 🗿

#37

500 m is actually insane in one go

recently started swimming agian for the first time in years bc there's a public outdoor pool near me. Only open for like 3 months of the year though lol so my progress has been pretty minimal

3 months is such a short. This is where indoor pools become handy

Tried learning and gave up🗿 my nose is sensitive and keeps sucking up the water🗿

#40
Zikos

It's not a sensitivity issue. You need to blow air out through you nose when turning your head.

I swam competitively, worst decision of my life. 6AM practices before school are hellish. Barely was awake half the day

You need to hydrate a lot if you swim and getting a sound sleep is necessary to not feel sleepy and tired.

Hecking love swimming. Started 8 months ago now i can swim all strokes and can swim upto 1km in one session but it tests your patience you have to be consistent to see progress in swimming but all in all it is underrated more people should swim as a daily exercise and stress reliever

#55

Yup. Patience is key and each day is a progress.

Fuck swimming, I became a lil smaller. I guess I should stick to lifting weights at the gym and sitting down when at work

If u need to gain muscles then gym is the way. Swimming is great for cardio and strengthening the upper body. Also very less chance of injury.
