They are literally the second something,
Mediocre core with cracked Russian players seems to be the trend rn for Japanese teams

Just feel like Russian players just have something in them that makes them so good
Like jemkins is consistently dropping 280+ ACS
Against other teams in ascension and kr1stal is just very consistant just dropping 150 ADR in most maps this duo is deadly I can see them being in a T1 team if they don't qualify

this is so braindead like you live in Asia and play in Asia but don't belong to Asia

So true. Riot really needs to re evaluate their rules for regions. It isn't fair to say to these players that just because they have a Russian nationality, they don't count as part of the Asian region despite playing in Asia and Japan for so long.

Is Jemkin even Russian?
I think he might be from like Siberia but his origins are definitely Asian.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that the Russians living in the far Asian part of russia look Asian.

Had a conversation with Itsover and another user a couple weeks back and he said he believes his last name is from Mongolian ethnic group that has been living in Russian Siberia for a long time. I’m trying to find the exact words, and it’s not confirmed or anything

Edit: Found it, here is the full conversation https://www.vlr.gg/post/2199526/jemkin

last name is based around Irkutsk which is a region that was formally mongolian, and still is an hour or so from the mongolian border.

I’ll say it again.

The only thing we have seen from them is good performances against T2 teams in what most people would consider the worst regions.

Being good in t2 India, Japan, And OCE doesn’t really say much about you.

I’m not saying they can’t be good still, I’m just saying I’m not rating them that highly yet.

Hard to say that after something being Pacific's MVP

Could be a yay situation too.

Clearly PRX is a fantastic team even without something (4th place with a streamer). Good teams have a habit of making players look better.

I am not saying something isn’t amazing (even sliggy has said that he thinks Something could be the best player in the world and I trust sliggy) I am just the type of person that doesn’t jump on the hype train until I see something that’s truly impressive.

And these players have yet to show me that.

to be fair, the trend for japanese/chinese teams seems to be "make up for shitty tactics and coaching with insane players" just in general
