It's not the roster, it's the coach with 100T

This roster looked like the best team in the world at the end of 2022.

Other players described them like robots with how protocol based they were--this is when seangares was coaching them.

Ever since he left you could see the cracks that started forming, their performance was still rather good at lock-in, but nothing like how they looked 3 months prior.

Bang starts clutching less and less, and their gameplan from match to match begins to look shakier and shakier.

Add in Stellar's comments about wanting to shift to a less rigid style of igling and being more freestyle, and it's clear to me the roster has been left to their own devices and needs a clear direction.

just look at Sean Gares' reactions everytime he watches them play. He's trying to be nice about it, but he comments (especially at lockin where they were still performing) "oh they're looking a little undiscplined"

and his interview on platchat describing how he had a whole system about what comps to run, what strats to run for the sake of not only winning the game at hand, but trying to make bait for other teams to try to prepare against it in order to use another strat, whereas now it just looks like they're pulling strats out of a hat.

Asuna isn't the problem, he's actually a great flex and raze entry player
Bang shouldn't have to clutch every round
Cryo was underperforming at the start of the split but hes in form again
Derrek hasn't had any crazy clutches either but hes a genuinely solid initiator with good fragging potential and experience nd teamwork with this team
stellar has no immediate replacements and as long as good coach reigns him in and straightens him out I think he'll be able to lead the team to victory.

This roster is individually capable of greatness, but I think they need a head coach with more of a voice in the team's practice and decisions ingame.

EDIT: I don't want to fully blame MikesHD, he's doing a lot work by himself, so at the very LEAST 100T should be paying for more staff to support him. Seangares had more help than he does after all

I don’t think mikes is as good of a coach as sgares. Straight up. That being said, he’s still a GOOD coach, and with an assistant (like every other good coaching team), and the authority to add more structure and take away stellar’s “free flowing” calling, I think this team could be decent with the players it has. To truly be top tier I think it needs more though.

yeah, idk wtf is going on w/ DDK as GM, letting Mikes solo lead this team of undisciplined, very young players. This is supposed to be the highest level of competition, how does 100T have one of the weakest coaching staffs in the league?

100T say they want to win and be one of the best teams, spend a huge amount on cryo's buyout, and then fumble and think one coach is enough at the highest level of competition, it doesn't make sense.

This split shows that for this team, being free flowing is not very good. They relied too much on hero plays by cryo, Asuna, and bang to win rounds, and when it came down to the fundamentals they just couldn’t compete. They need to go back to being the structured robots they were last year if they want to compete at a high level again. Mikes is a good assistant and that showed last year, but he’s really not fit for a head coach role like Sean was. I would say bring back Sean but he clearly left because he wants to care for his family and casting is far less stress, so idk where the solution is.

I mean I'd still much rather have Flyuh Johnqt or Valyn if I am 100T next year. IMO those three, Runi, Boostio, and FNS should be the IGLs in NA next year with 2 of them going to SEN/100T and the other winning ascension.

Flyuh has over 600 rounds on all three sentinels+viper and plays a bunch of initiators. His agent pool is huge and would allow Bang and Asuna to play virtually whatever they wanted to. I see your point with Valyn but Valyn calling and fragging>>>>Stellar to the point where him having to learn KJ and/or initiators wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Role issues are a huge part of a team, and was a major contributor to why SEN was so bad this split, making valyn learn agents he may not be used to could be kind of a throw if it doesn’t work out, but Flyuh could be huge

I mean Valyn previously stated that he was open to playing on teams as either controller or initiator. We just haven't seem him on initiator because Guard is best when Trent and Jonah are on those. He knows how to play that role and if its Tenz Zekken him Marved and insert sentinel player the roles would work completely fine IMO.

Huge coaching diff imo. Sean gares made 100t look like a well oil machine. Now they play so loose and scrappy.

stellar has no immediate replacements and as long as good coach reigns him in and straightens him out I think he'll be able to lead the team to victory.

It seems stellar doesnt like protocols too much but sean gares didnt give him that level of control so he wanted more control to "IGL". Here, he might've had a better relationship with MikesHD than sean gares due to this friction which then led to sean gares backing off. The same way sliggy backed off when he had friction with scream. Similar to how liquid chose Scream, 100T chose stellar. Now MikesHD lets stellar call (which is horrible) and now both are too far into this to back out. So personally, I think stellar should be kicked and a less egotistic IGL be given a chance, Tier 2 NA has a lot of them.
