Liquid is a solid third place team

Compared to the other regions possible third seeds (Lev, Furia 100T, SEN, Talon, Gen G, PRX), there's not a single team that I can confidently say is better than Liquid. I genuinely think that their performance at Lock in was decent despite being massively below expectations.

It's a completely new roster without an existing core made with players from three different teams that didn't play similarly (or really share any structure). Yet, their macro was still good, their setplays were good, and the IGL-ing was solid.

Once they manage to coordinate better - as all new rosters do after a few months - they will perform way better. Not good enough to match the S-tier teams because of their weak links but good enough to beat anybody else.

I would say almost every single one of those team you listed could beat liquid, your smoking brother

They have the raw talent so maybe they make it work next tourney but they are def behind other third seeds rn

I think what he means is that unlike those teams, the 3rd place spot in EMEA is more secure/less contested for liquid But I might be wrong.

i doubt thats what hes talking about at all. Hes definitely comparing 3rd place teams and saying TL are better than all the other 3rd places in other regions

my intention was to compare the teams at the level they will be when they next play each other, which will be Tokyo.

Currently I 100% agree they are dogwater

Actually he is right. Liquid can overcome and surpass those teams, but they surely played better tham Liquid in Lock-in (GE Included).

you think Lev, Furia, 100T, SEN, Talon, Gen.G, and PRX are ALL worse than Team Liquid? come on bro.

it feels like you're comparing Team Liquid 3 months from now to other teams' performance at lock//in rather than comparing it to other teams' performance 3 months from now. I understand your case for 100T amd PRX since they look weaker than they used to, but lev, furia, gen.g, and Talon improved a LOT compared to their previous showings due to roster changes and whatnot. SEN is a special case since they haven't had a lot of time to practice together either and its a whole new roster, so it's a similar situation to TL.

i think it's a really delusional take to claim Liquid is better than all these teams because they have the aptitude to be better, even though all of the other teams you listed have that same aptitude.

Ig he is saying that compared to those teams liquid might have less competition for the 3rd spot in their region which might be true if they figure their shit out.

but that has nothing to do with Liquid, that has everything to do with EMEA being incredibly top heavy. but even so, he literally said

Compared to the other regions possible third seeds (Lev, Furia 100T, SEN, Talon, Gen G, PRX), there's not a single team that I can confidently say is better than Liquid.

looking back on it it kinda does look like poor word choice, but my point still stands, if they look like the clear EMEA 3rd seed then that has everything to do with the lower quality of teams ranked #4-10 and nothing to do with the other regions

he wasnt rlly talking about the other regions.
he was mainly saying that unlike the other regions, EMEA teams below top 2 weren't good enough to contest Liquid for the 3rd spot (complete bullshit btw, but i'm just translating his poor wording). It wasn't rlly about the other regions.

sen at least lost to the winners of the tournament

tl lost to a team with 0 expectations

It would be worse than or at the level of, not strictly worse but yeah. I claim that they WILL BE at the level where the statement is true. Currently, they're clearly not even close.

their performance was decent? brother they got smoked and shown nothing good, genuinely looked like one of the worst teams next to RRQ and Detonation, they will need a ton of work if they wanna become contenders after what they've shown us at lock in.

the rrq comparision is unwarranted, they're in a tier of their own.

I definitely do think they showed a lot of good though. > Yet, their macro was still good, their setplays were good, and the IGL-ing was solid.

It's super visible in their gameplay, just look at even the very first round of the series - Liquid run a beautiful fake that gets all the TS players off site and then proceed to massively fumble the plant because nobody holds for redgar during the plant. This round structure (TL having good ideas but fucking up the foundations) repeats in different forms throughout the series and was in my opinion the main reason they lost.

nah liquid at lock//in was a top 28-30 team, I believe they can step up in the league but their game against secret was one of the worst games out of all the games played throughout the tournament.

set plays were there, but usually didn't work from what I can recall and everything else was shit including on the spot calling and most of all the chemistry between players.

Liquid will have to work hard to prove that they are a good level team since their debut in lock//in was quite disappointing with how bad they played, as a roster on paper they are still a strong team

Okay, as a Liquid fan, lemme stop you right there

we were garbage at LOCK//IN.

Hopefully we can clean it up in 2 weeks otherwise 2023 will be a rough year for the team

KOI,KCORP and VIT all seem to be better than liquid for the 3rd spot so i would'nt hold my breath on liquid getting in for tokyo. If you are comparing liquid 3 months from now then you have to also consider how much potential these teams also have compared to lulquid

They have a big potential, but looking at their current performance they need atleast a year to become top 3 EMEA

Insane potential, performed way poor with Secret performing way too good. Jessievash was farming them quite honestly
