You should definitely wait and see before judging. However, most people in the community believe that past performance is a predictor for future performance. It's definitely not which I believe is your point.
But when you have a small pool of qualified applicants because the system itself is a closed system, how do you find new talent? As a GM, your job is on the line and when you have a family that depends on you, you certainly are going to be risk averse.

My honest opinion about ranked is that it rewards people who are not good at the game and do not contribute. I think this opinion is undisputable.

There's not much mentioned about the contribution of assists but looking at how games are put together, there are two prediction checks on whether you will perform. One before you are in the game and one after the teams have been formed. Then based on the results, it stores that data.
My perspective on this is that if winrates get stuck at 55% over time (personal observation), then for me, that says there is some form of EOMM in Valorant.
If I'm not meant to control the outcomes of my games, whether I win or lose, based on the prediction checks, then the only thing I can control are the fights I take and hopefully, their outcomes.
The conclusion I form from this is that encounter mmr is what I should target, not winning.
I've had this problem in the past. Then I saw the Riot patent for matchmaking. The key is to just win your fights. Ignore your teammates reactions. You can't win all your games but you can win your encounters. Focus on your encounter mmr and you'll move up. The system will help you.
