I have a theory, the theory that "AI" will never attain consciousness as a inorganic being.

Let me explain.

Whenever you think of robots, androids and simulacrums, there is a common vision of a "metal body" that somehow houses a human consciousness.

We see this again and again in books, movies and shows. I believe that they got it wrong, there will never exist metal unfeeling robots that Think.

Why? organoids. Recently researchers have been experimenting on lab grown braincells, and in those experiments they saw that these organoids would be able to run complex systems and store a myriad of information in a much smaller space than HDs and SSDs, so using "brain cells" could make better computers that use less power and space.

Another thing about the AI frontier is that these models are based entirely on abstract data, basically, the robot doesnt understand what its seeing, it just runs a complex (if=true then x) system.

This is a pattern, a pattern that the "better system" interacts with the real world, that a better system would use different materials, more flexible materials, a better system would be more organic, more "fleshy", more human.

My far-fetched theory/prediction is that as these researchers advance their knowledge, it will all reach full circle, they will gradually recreate a human.

Our consciousness depends entirely on being able to feel, to physically interact with the real world. A dream is just your brain reorganizing a compilation of experiences of interactions you've had with the real world.

"Matter can't be created, only rearranged" our inventions all mirror what we can SEE, they mirror the real world.

Helicopters mirror dragonflies, most engines are just fancier versions of the steam engine, we have never created something that didnt already exist, all we did was rearrange parts of what already exist.

We will gradually confirm that flesh is better than metal. And AI will reach a point where its simply a recreation of human brain, not something new.

Conscioussness is inherently human, and it will result in the comedic yet dissappointing reality that the only way we can recreate it is if we recreate "us".
