that tweet is 37 hours old, it’s been posted here before and as far as we know they’re just trialing him so not confirmed yet

My current theory involves them copying the Berlin 2021 format, but doubling it (BRN was not able to attend so they had 15 teams). This would include 6 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 3, with the groups of 4 being normal and the groups of 2 being round-robin. The top two teams from each group would advance to a single-elimination bracket. If they do 3 matches per day for the group stage, ro16, and quarterfinals that would be 18 days. Then, they can have the two semifinal matches on day 19 and the bo5 final on day 20. This fits (barely) in the current timeline for the event, but they could always extend it and probably will.

can someone explain how swiss works with 30 teams? how could you pair teams after the initial round?

I don’t believe for a second that ShahZaM “didn’t even get told they were looking into other players”. It sucks that they found out so late, but to be fair it doesn’t make sense to drop someone before you have their replacement lined up. Like if 100T dropped Will, and then they were never able to agree on a contract for Cryo, that would make things awkward if they had to get Will back. I’m sure that all of the players were aware that they could be dropped, but the org isn’t going to tell them that they will be dropped because they need to secure a better option first. The only crime here is reporters leaking the news before deals are signed and orgs can handle the arrival/departure properly.

zekken said on stream that he hasn't signed anything yet, and dephh probably hasn't either, so what exactly did Sentinels do wrong here? they haven't made an announcement and it's not like they have to consult with ShahZam about who they're interested in getting for the team

sorry it’s actually SEN ZmjjKK

he also liked a tweet that says “Tenz, Tarik, Zekken, Marved, Trent”

posted about a year ago

Yeah he isn’t really needed atm, dapr can play fade and you only really need sova on Breeze/Icebox (which don’t require neon/raze) so zekken can be their sova on those maps, and dephh plays breach

What Sushi_ said is definitely important, but I'd also like to add that the game(s) you want to play and the resources your school has are going to make quite a difference. If the students are able to supply their own equipment (laptops, mice, etc.) then it's pretty easy, but if you need to borrow the school's equipment then games that require a lot of computers for a match (e.g., LoL, VALORANT, CS:GO) become complicated. Smash Bros is an easy and cheap option because all you need is one computer and a few controllers. Basically, just have a plan for what equipment and funding you need and how you expect to cover that cost (charging a club fee maybe).

I'm pretty sure one of my math teachers started one at my high school when I was a sophomore/junior and they did a lot of Smash tournaments

supamen is really good on Omen, but i’m not as confident in his other agents. tbh i haven’t seen him play that much

If they can’t get Marved, I would definitely choose aproto (over moose/supamen ig) as their new controller

are we including players from LATAM/BR?

From the rulebook:
A Team Member who has dual citizenship or otherwise qualifies as a Resident of more than one country cannot be a Resident of two League Territories simultaneously. Once a Team Member declares residency for a Team in a League, in order to switch residency to another League the Team Member must have participated in at least fifty percent (50%) of regular season matches of their Team within that League in its most recent split (or most recent Season if there are not multiple splits).

i had this problem a lot in high school, i would just lie in bed for two hours every night waiting to fall asleep because it felt like i couldn’t shut off my brain. i really envy those people who can just fall asleep during a movie or mid-conversation cause i can’t seem to do that unless i’ve been awake for a super long time. i am generally a very anxious person so it’s probably tied to that, but the only thing i’ve found that helps is something like a difficult lecture video that requires me to concentrate and can exhaust/distract my brain to make me sleepy faster so I don’t just overthink things

yes you get to see him do aim lab with his feet

posted about a year ago

he has also played a decent amount of Omen and Astra in pro matches so it seems pretty likely at this point

posted about a year ago

idk why everyone seems so concerned by this, we didn’t hear anything about who NRG might be signing/dropping until Friday and haven’t heard any news about any NA org all weekend so it’s not like EG is that far behind

posted about a year ago

If NRG does well at Kickoff, I’ll still count it as a W for OpTic

posted about a year ago

the only reason I can think for a team to not have their final roster on October 15th is if they’re waiting on someone’s contract to end in the next few months, or if they start practicing with one of their new players and they’re really not meshing well with the team, otherwise October 15th should basically be the deadline cause it shouldn’t take longer than three weeks to negotiate and no one wants to add a player only to remove them before even competing

posted about a year ago

It’s not up to them. It is very likely that they want to keep him, but they have to get him to sign a new contract (and TenZ might ask for better terms given his fame). This may have already happened for all we know, and I doubt we would hear about it until an announcement is made given how secretive SEN tends to be.

posted about a year ago

They need to have a six-player roster and a coach by October 15th, but I expect that we’ll get a lot of official news over the next week. Also, 100T did confirm Cryo so it’s not all leaks

posted about a year ago

It sounds like your (RiotAgainstRiot) problem isn’t that Riot is ruining the tier-2 scene, but rather that there were never dozens of rich, established orgs to begin with that could provide copious amounts of support to their players. I don’t see how the Ascension league changes any of that.

posted about a year ago

That’s pretty much every big org in NA Valorant aside from OpTic, XSET, and FaZe (who might still join). All of the other teams were always going to relatively small anyway, so idk what more they could do

posted about a year ago

None of the NRG players announced that they were F/As until after the OpTic roster acquisition was leaked, so it’s very possible that they don’t want to formally drop their current roster until they have deals in place with new players. Same with Will, he didn’t announce anything until Cryo was official

posted about a year ago

currently waiting on Nahida and then I’m going to try a Cyno/Raiden/Nahida/Zhongli team, not sure if that’ll happen in 3.2 or ~3.6 though cause I also want Scaramouche so I may decide to wait for Nahida’s rerun

posted about a year ago

It’s not that SEN are done with TenZ, there’s just nothing stopping him from moving to NRG or EG if he wants to because of his contract allegedly expiring soon. They probably feel that it’s more important to focus on their coaches and scouting new players for their roster than on extending his contract, so he’s less of a priority but that doesn’t mean they want him gone. There are reports that they are looking for a new IGL though, so the ShahZaM part may be true.

I’m assuming NDA_JN means “Non-disclosure Agreement Jimmy Nguyen”, anyone have ideas about what RS is?

posted about a year ago

With Cryo and (supposedly) yay off the market, I don’t see SEN going for anyone else and TenZ would probably prefer to stay than move to EG/NRG when his contract expires

posted about a year ago

it also says “the coaches will formulate a roster” and that they have their eyes set on a particular IGL, so it sounds like we might have to wait until after the coaches are finalized to know who’s on the active roster

Related question: If teams had to pick their agents before they knew which map they were playing, which comp would be most viable for any map?

posted about a year ago

Riot is not a government agency, they can only determine so much in their investigations without a warrant to search people’s possessions. All they can really do is ask people questions and threaten to suspend them if they don’t cooperate, so it’s not really surprising that they haven’t found much in either case.

posted about a year ago

I think for kickoff they might just do what they did at Berlin when there were 15 teams, so 6 normal groups of 4 teams and 2 round-robin groups of 3 teams. To my knowledge, swiss wouldn’t work without some significant modifications

As someone who spent several years in Florida, it always just felt like hurricane season was an excuse to get a week off of school around September. Infrastructure in Florida is really well built to prevent flooding and other damage so it’s really not that problematic unless it’s strong and you live on the beach. It’s a lot worse when it hits a place like Houston that isn’t ready for it.
