in theory it’s always going to rely on trust unless the government introduces a formal legal process to change your gender, but of course if the tournament organizers find any evidence that you may be faking it they can always just ban you and you’re going to get a ton of hate for it
apparently they’ve been trialing a lot of people, but beyond that there isn’t much to report
East coast on average is nicer, but there are some good cities on the west coast
Apparently there are rules in Chess for Swiss tournaments with an odd number of players, so they could theoretically break it down like this:
30
15 15
8 15 7
4 12 11 3
4 6 12 5 3
4 6 6 6 5 3
Assuming initial matches are Bo1 and your qualifying/elimination matches are Bo3, I believe this would be 47 Bo1 and 24 Bo3 matches, with 5 teams receiving one BYE at some point in the stage.
This also has the advantage of dividing the field into 16 winners and 14 losers, so you can easily set up the following stage of the tournament.
are you saying the round-robin stage would be Bo1? because they’d have to run like 10 matches per day to make that fit in the current timeframe
i was trying to think of context for when a player would ever say “i killed 2 on haven”, but then i found it:

Detroit: Become Human is a pretty obvious one, also Hazelight games if you have a friend for co-op
Oper - TenZ
Entry - zekken
Initiator - Sacy
Controller - pANcada
Flex/IGL - dephh
what part of this doesn’t work? dephh has played a ton of Cypher and Killjoy in the past so SEN should be fine if they become meta again
i think they might just be waiting to do a full team reveal now that they basically have everyone, cause if they were going to keep doing it one at a time we probably would have gotten a dephh announcement by now
shockingly I was actually able to find one: https://youtu.be/g_OXaUFGsvs
George Geddes said that the Lakia leak is not true, so did Autumn but he’s part of the team so it makes sense for him to deny it
“I am a full-time esports journalist for Dot Esports. I majored in Philosophy in order to enhance my analytical and writing ability.”
how have people sampled enough brands of bottled water to have a favorite? do y’all have unsafe tap water?
What makes you think the LATAM/BR orgs won’t also sign NA players? There’s currently a larger pool of proven talent from NA, the only thing that I could see stopping them is if there are serious language barriers
Neither SEN nor shroud ever tweeted that he left so maybe the mods didn’t want to change it without a source? I’m pretty sure he mentioned it on stream though
My current expectation is SEN > C9 = NRG > 100T based on skill and experience, plus I was born in Brazil and I'm a zekken enjoyer so I have an obligation to support SEN
“If the deal is complete. LOUD players Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi and Bryan “pancada” Luna are set to join Sentinels alongside in-game leader Rory “dephh” Jackson and Zachary “zekken” Patrone, the latter of whom has signed with Sentinels at time of writing.
Sentinels superstar Tyson “TenZ” Ngo will likely round out the roster, but the deal is incomplete.”
From dapr: “Sentinels have offered me a role as a sub but have given me the ability to look for a new team as an unrestricted free agent”
maybe both: his gf left him because he got cut from the team
dapr just tweeted “knife in the back”???
George just tweeted that we should stay up, so I think we can expect a report extremely soon (it’s 2:30am in the U.K. so i doubt it’ll take too long)
NA and EU are still scarred from 2018 when FNC, C9, and G2 all made it to the top four but still lost to a Chinese team. It’ll take us some time to recover
This is a very common phenomenon actually, like how there are successful women in industries dominated by men who just say “oh well if I made it then why can’t you do it as well?” instead of trying to make the younger women feel welcomed and supported. Asking women in Valorant to just go for it in a competitive scene where almost all of their peers are men isn’t going to do much to grow the scene, sure you might get a couple women who break through and join a top team, but you’re going to discourage a lot more people than you’re going to help
Ideally, GC wouldn’t even exist long-term. It just has to exist long enough for the gender ratio to even out a bit
I trust Dot Esports, my feelings toward George are irrelevant
So basically yay takes mitch’s job, then ardiis takes yay’s job, then cNed takes ardiis’ job.

Autumn responded to it with “You are wrong” so idk
TenZ only moved to content creation when C9 were losing constantly, he prefers competing so why would he leave when SEN is about to look better than they’ve been all year?
the purpose of the october 15th deadline is to make sure you have a roster that can travel to, and work in, the host city of your region. after that, orgs can make changes until february but they are responsible for making sure that their new players have the necessary permits.
Maybe a hot take but I think both bang and s0m could surpass Marved next year as the best NA controllers (not including IGL ability), but with Marved still comfortably ahead of 4th place
I’m personally still attached to the “why did Rob Moore follow Marved and crashies?” theory, especially now that he also followed zekken and dephh. Even if they don’t actually get both/either them, there must have been some attempt to
it’s literally just a virtual interview, it’s not like they put a lot of effort into it
nothing confirmed, Chronicle very likely from what we know
yeah there’s a local news article about him in which he said he practiced 5-6 hours a day, 6 days a week with XSET which only leaves around 4 hours for normal things like eating and doing homework anyway
dephh has been playing for NA since he joined Complexity for CS:GO in 2016
maybe Jovi? former coach/analyst for 100T and analyst for OpTic so he’s got the résumé at least
hmm maybe I should have been paying more attention to the difference between "starting roster" and "active roster", though to be fair the difference is never described
actually import rules only say you need to have four players from your region on your starting roster, but the starting roster consists of six players so you can have two imports
actually this may conflict with what thwifo said so maybe they changed it
i think that’s a few too many assumptions
the “drama” is already over, it was just a misunderstanding: https://twitter.com/GeorgeCGed/status/1577736765166829572?s=20&t=jO1UAKsxtw-R58EF8DEG0g
well the primary reason is he’d have to move to Berlin and Kyedae is attending college in California
that tweet is 37 hours old, it’s been posted here before and as far as we know they’re just trialing him so not confirmed yet
i’m skeptical of anything george says that doesn’t have a dotesports link attached to it
My current theory involves them copying the Berlin 2021 format, but doubling it (BRN was not able to attend so they had 15 teams). This would include 6 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 3, with the groups of 4 being normal and the groups of 2 being round-robin. The top two teams from each group would advance to a single-elimination bracket. If they do 3 matches per day for the group stage, ro16, and quarterfinals that would be 18 days. Then, they can have the two semifinal matches on day 19 and the bo5 final on day 20. This fits (barely) in the current timeline for the event, but they could always extend it and probably will.
can someone explain how swiss works with 30 teams? how could you pair teams after the initial round?
I don’t believe for a second that ShahZaM “didn’t even get told they were looking into other players”. It sucks that they found out so late, but to be fair it doesn’t make sense to drop someone before you have their replacement lined up. Like if 100T dropped Will, and then they were never able to agree on a contract for Cryo, that would make things awkward if they had to get Will back. I’m sure that all of the players were aware that they could be dropped, but the org isn’t going to tell them that they will be dropped because they need to secure a better option first. The only crime here is reporters leaking the news before deals are signed and orgs can handle the arrival/departure properly.
