What makes you think the LATAM/BR orgs won’t also sign NA players? There’s currently a larger pool of proven talent from NA, the only thing that I could see stopping them is if there are serious language barriers

Neither SEN nor shroud ever tweeted that he left so maybe the mods didn’t want to change it without a source? I’m pretty sure he mentioned it on stream though

My current expectation is SEN > C9 = NRG > 100T based on skill and experience, plus I was born in Brazil and I'm a zekken enjoyer so I have an obligation to support SEN

https://dotesports.com/valorant/news/sentinels-set-to-sign-2-brazilian-world-champions-to-valorant-roster

“If the deal is complete. LOUD players Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi and Bryan “pancada” Luna are set to join Sentinels alongside in-game leader Rory “dephh” Jackson and Zachary “zekken” Patrone, the latter of whom has signed with Sentinels at time of writing.

Sentinels superstar Tyson “TenZ” Ngo will likely round out the roster, but the deal is incomplete.”

From dapr: “Sentinels have offered me a role as a sub but have given me the ability to look for a new team as an unrestricted free agent”

maybe both: his gf left him because he got cut from the team

George just tweeted that we should stay up, so I think we can expect a report extremely soon (it’s 2:30am in the U.K. so i doubt it’ll take too long)

NA and EU are still scarred from 2018 when FNC, C9, and G2 all made it to the top four but still lost to a Chinese team. It’ll take us some time to recover

This is a very common phenomenon actually, like how there are successful women in industries dominated by men who just say “oh well if I made it then why can’t you do it as well?” instead of trying to make the younger women feel welcomed and supported. Asking women in Valorant to just go for it in a competitive scene where almost all of their peers are men isn’t going to do much to grow the scene, sure you might get a couple women who break through and join a top team, but you’re going to discourage a lot more people than you’re going to help

Ideally, GC wouldn’t even exist long-term. It just has to exist long enough for the gender ratio to even out a bit

TenZ only moved to content creation when C9 were losing constantly, he prefers competing so why would he leave when SEN is about to look better than they’ve been all year?

posted about a year ago

the purpose of the october 15th deadline is to make sure you have a roster that can travel to, and work in, the host city of your region. after that, orgs can make changes until february but they are responsible for making sure that their new players have the necessary permits.

Maybe a hot take but I think both bang and s0m could surpass Marved next year as the best NA controllers (not including IGL ability), but with Marved still comfortably ahead of 4th place

posted about a year ago

I’m personally still attached to the “why did Rob Moore follow Marved and crashies?” theory, especially now that he also followed zekken and dephh. Even if they don’t actually get both/either them, there must have been some attempt to

yeah there’s a local news article about him in which he said he practiced 5-6 hours a day, 6 days a week with XSET which only leaves around 4 hours for normal things like eating and doing homework anyway

dephh has been playing for NA since he joined Complexity for CS:GO in 2016

maybe Jovi? former coach/analyst for 100T and analyst for OpTic so he’s got the résumé at least

posted about a year ago

hmm maybe I should have been paying more attention to the difference between "starting roster" and "active roster", though to be fair the difference is never described

posted about a year ago

actually import rules only say you need to have four players from your region on your starting roster, but the starting roster consists of six players so you can have two imports

actually this may conflict with what thwifo said so maybe they changed it

i think that’s a few too many assumptions

well the primary reason is he’d have to move to Berlin and Kyedae is attending college in California

posted about a year ago

that tweet is 37 hours old, it’s been posted here before and as far as we know they’re just trialing him so not confirmed yet

i’m skeptical of anything george says that doesn’t have a dotesports link attached to it

posted about a year ago

My current theory involves them copying the Berlin 2021 format, but doubling it (BRN was not able to attend so they had 15 teams). This would include 6 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 3, with the groups of 4 being normal and the groups of 2 being round-robin. The top two teams from each group would advance to a single-elimination bracket. If they do 3 matches per day for the group stage, ro16, and quarterfinals that would be 18 days. Then, they can have the two semifinal matches on day 19 and the bo5 final on day 20. This fits (barely) in the current timeline for the event, but they could always extend it and probably will.

can someone explain how swiss works with 30 teams? how could you pair teams after the initial round?

I don’t believe for a second that ShahZaM “didn’t even get told they were looking into other players”. It sucks that they found out so late, but to be fair it doesn’t make sense to drop someone before you have their replacement lined up. Like if 100T dropped Will, and then they were never able to agree on a contract for Cryo, that would make things awkward if they had to get Will back. I’m sure that all of the players were aware that they could be dropped, but the org isn’t going to tell them that they will be dropped because they need to secure a better option first. The only crime here is reporters leaking the news before deals are signed and orgs can handle the arrival/departure properly.

posted about a year ago

zekken said on stream that he hasn't signed anything yet, and dephh probably hasn't either, so what exactly did Sentinels do wrong here? they haven't made an announcement and it's not like they have to consult with ShahZam about who they're interested in getting for the team

posted about a year ago

sorry it’s actually SEN ZmjjKK

posted about a year ago

he also liked a tweet that says “Tenz, Tarik, Zekken, Marved, Trent”

posted about a year ago

Yeah he isn’t really needed atm, dapr can play fade and you only really need sova on Breeze/Icebox (which don’t require neon/raze) so zekken can be their sova on those maps, and dephh plays breach

posted about a year ago

What Sushi_ said is definitely important, but I'd also like to add that the game(s) you want to play and the resources your school has are going to make quite a difference. If the students are able to supply their own equipment (laptops, mice, etc.) then it's pretty easy, but if you need to borrow the school's equipment then games that require a lot of computers for a match (e.g., LoL, VALORANT, CS:GO) become complicated. Smash Bros is an easy and cheap option because all you need is one computer and a few controllers. Basically, just have a plan for what equipment and funding you need and how you expect to cover that cost (charging a club fee maybe).

I'm pretty sure one of my math teachers started one at my high school when I was a sophomore/junior and they did a lot of Smash tournaments

supamen is really good on Omen, but i’m not as confident in his other agents. tbh i haven’t seen him play that much

If they can’t get Marved, I would definitely choose aproto (over moose/supamen ig) as their new controller
