My school recently announced an esports club for LOL rocket league and smash bros. Curious how common that is.

I'm pretty sure one of my math teachers started one at my high school when I was a sophomore/junior and they did a lot of Smash tournaments

the way my friend and i got a volleyball club back in middle school was we got like 15 people who said they would be willing to join, got their signatures, then got a teacher who was willing to be the 'patron'. Then we brought it to the principal and they agreed and allowed us to use the gym after school. Might work idk

What Sushi_ said is definitely important, but I'd also like to add that the game(s) you want to play and the resources your school has are going to make quite a difference. If the students are able to supply their own equipment (laptops, mice, etc.) then it's pretty easy, but if you need to borrow the school's equipment then games that require a lot of computers for a match (e.g., LoL, VALORANT, CS:GO) become complicated. Smash Bros is an easy and cheap option because all you need is one computer and a few controllers. Basically, just have a plan for what equipment and funding you need and how you expect to cover that cost (charging a club fee maybe).

Eh if you’re school has any funding what so ever than it should be fine and they should be able to support it.
I live in a small ass hick town and they have 12 PC’s (all new this year cause they just upgraded)
Along with high end gaming equipment, the only rule they have is no controllers while playing OW LMAO

My HS had one.
They did the same games and I convinced them to do a Valorant league for last semester.
I was the best player last year being Plat then.. it’s not really e-sports it’s more get together with friends and play video games. There’s typically only one good player on a team. My brother is GC2 in rocket league and no one came close to him more for fun the scrims are stupid imo

i mean theres a handheld gamers club at my school, but i refuse to be in it because of the people in it LMFAO
but i know a LOT of people play a lot of variety of games, but i dont think its competitive enough to be an "esports" club, probably just a gaming club or smth

My high school has a esports club that has a SSBU, Rocket League, VALORANT, and Overwatch 2 team, all started by one teacher who wanted to bring esports to my school 4 years ago as he was a former pro player in a fighting game himself, although our esports club is kinda new we have won titles in smash and our VALORANT squad is looking nice this year with most of us being ascendant+.
