and no it isnt because cn is ass, i really dont know what it is honestly. it just feels so stale and soulless compared to previous years. maybe i am just losing the passion for the esport itself but i am really curious if anyone else feels this way

Just you bud
The tournament has been good so far
Not just you
Everything feels the same, no excitement
The last time i felt that spark was the ENVY vs MIBR upset
storylines make games interesting and the storylines are a bit weak rn
big superstar teams like fnatic arent here, legacy players like aspas are missing
as much as people hate on successful dynastic teams and consistent players, they are what make the game storylines interesting
nowadays in valorant you can skip watching 2 tournaments and have 10 new teams you have never seen before at champs
you just arent watching the games apparently. "big superstar teams" and you have nrg loud edg prx team liquid
loud was completely written off for basically 2 years now, and its a completely different roster
team liquid is not a superstar team buddy, what universe do you live in
their storyline is not getting grouped
the rest are obvious no brainers
but no fnatic, no aspas champs team, no exciting new team in LEV
the storylines are NRG wins again, EDG wins again, and PRX wins champs, and maybe NS can unfraud
thats gotta be the most boring storylines of all time
maybe you gotta watch the games bro
name another superstar team that you think
so you basically dont get excited when teams change cuz you dont get ur favs, cool. fnatic fans said this when they didnt qualify. also youre saying nrg is boring winning? if fnatic was a big team winning would be exactly the same, holy biased.
also erde's mom is getting the trophy
Ok think about this logically please.
A bad story is a bad story. A good story needs a proper exposition, rise, climax, then resolution.
If you skip half the story steps with a team that formed with 5 rookies in the last split its obviously less interesting than a veteran core winning after being close multiple times. It is also less interesting to have a team that won it last year win it again, because it is expected in a way.
People want david vs goliath stories, redemption stories, underdog stories. People want superstar players. How are you supposed to care more about the games if there isn't a story to care about? The teams they play at each event arent even consistent. Valorant is one of the least consistent esports.
Not saying the story won't develop, the tournament is still happening. But so far the initial setup was kinda underwhelming. NRG last year at least had s0m's retirement arc. What is the story this year?
How do you become that veteran team that’s been close multiple times if you are never the rookie team?
Ofc you need to be the rookie team at some point but are you telling me a tournament with 12 teams freshly formed with mostly international rookies would be as emotionally impactful as one with 12 veteran teams with established international storylines? A good storyline isn't made in year. If PRX and EDG didn't qualify this would actually be top ten most boring tournaments in terms of storyline.
I'm not saying rookie teams are boring to watch, but there needs to be a good balance, and I think valorant esports as a whole struggles to keep top teams consistent enough to build strong storylines. Rookie teams add some new exciting change, but having a consistent old guard is healthy for all esports and sports in general.
new views doesnt give a shit about old people who did well 3 years ago.
3 years from now if vct is still doing ok they will probably agree with me then LOL
Oh I see wym.
I mean we still have
G2 on their literal last ever run together, most of EDG, 100T Asuna and Cryo have been at it for a while, BerLIN is a Chinese vet, Vitality is definitely veteran led, T1 is a team full of vets, paper rex has been competitive forever, team liquid has been going 1-2 since 2023, nrg is going for number 2 (Ethan for #3), Suygetsu finally escaped emea prison, prolly some other people i missed.
Tbf I do think this champs has been a bit underwhelming in the group stages because of China so far, but besides that I don’t think it’s an “all rookie” tournament with 0 storylines.
But we’re all entitled to our own opinions.
So no judgment from me!
riot does it on purpose so that its never the same winners again, theres tons of places where a guy wins too much and he just gets hated on, like max verstappen
also a veteran that hasnt won shit and has a chance to is asuna.
and if youre only watching for the story then do you even like the game? why dont you watch any other esport then? trackmania had a peak event
Not true, and I think it is super healthy to have a big winner even if you hate them.
A dominant player/team builds a very loyal fanbase, and having a loyal fanbase gives you loyal haters. No matter the outcome then, any game involving them is interesting because you either love them or hate them to the extreme. Feeling mediocre about the outcome is the worst possible option for a fan. A hatewatch is still a game you care about.
Loud? They dont have any of the older players left in the team to have any storyline. The players make the storyline, not the other way around
The productions been ass as well as well as the stage should of let VCT CN run it
shit rebrand btw lost all aura
Nah its cuz china is ass. Vfl is the only thing keeping me entertained and even then it's just min max china games
legit how i've been playing VFL in champs, just pick every single team that plays CN and then pick a star player.
Group stage do be like that. Just wait for playoffs.
Too many stomps, same arena style, same meta, only 2 BO3's a day, the tournament lasts too long for no fucking reason.
good take goyim
The only good games has been the PRX vs liquid and the GE vs VIT. The only good part of groups are the elimination matches bcs something is on the line
I think its the current meta for me. I really don't enjoy watching chamber comps. Or neon comps for that matter
i dont enjoy yoru in the mix. i liked mosquito comps but not the neon yoru comps. idk how to explain it but i truly hate this meta. BRING BACK JETT RAZE
despite the games being mostly stomps so far i a really feeling the vibe this team. Havent been this excited and vibing in a long time
I mean I agree but I've been a VCT fan since 2021 when I was 14-15, so... I think for me it's a matter of growing up
That said - on the whole I think I dislike the franchising system all these years on.
I would say that this Champs is exciting because of so many new teams in the mix. However, this might be one of the easier Champs to predict since the meta is one where you either die or live by it.
The venue definitely could have been hosted by VCT CN rather than Riot, but what can you do? No shooting bodies unless you want serious repercussions, and the end of this franchise era has felt somewhat disappointing since there are so many good teams and T2 players who won't get the same chance if they have to go through Open Quals.
no trash talk no hype dead
agreed, direction of game balance has been mid, most of the top teams arent very interesting (e.g. aspas is more of a showman than 100T), and theres too many dogshit teams at these big tournaments
its exciting for me because i get to see new matchups, like KC NRG and VIT LOUD are sooo anticipating
Vct has been shit this year, honestly games feel so random and also stomps are the worst thing for the game, epic moments happen when the matches are close, but now we lack those.
the util nerfs remove major part of teams creativity.
Look at EG Vs PRX UF. Yes it's a screen cluttering round, but it's so fun to watch and a really creative idea from both teams
its because goat boaster and goat texture both aren't here to save us
also is there even any interesting storyline rn? ig LOUD and KC, maybe G2's last dance, but i know most people probably still hating on G2
same here man, nothing beats champs 22, copenhagen, tokyo and champs 24 for me. maybe we just lost the passion big bro
champs 24 😍
LA was insane too......Paris was the last good event
a lot of predictable one sided games............and Santiago and London have been ass....genuinly only the PRX, NRG and few BBL, FUT games have been exciting....the rest have been lame
VCT will be great once EMEA has actually teams that know how to play
I called it that franchise killed EMEA the most.... AME is the one benefiting the most due to having 2 continents and can have a better talent selection...I swear if EMEA had 8 teams in fanchise we would eat....cause we letting Marteen and Nats , Riens on teams that cant do shit....ofc we have no good team when 3 of best players on their role are one man army on shit teams
For me I think the crowd atmosphere plays the most important part in giving the vibes of a good tournament. That's why I always liked the matches where one team had a home advantage and everyone was cheering
the real issue is AMERICAS winning
It's worst VCT tournament by far. (Cause NA is winning their matches)
