AI is unquestionably the future, even if you don't like it. It is too useful and too powerful to ignore.
But when the future is fully automated, what is the point of living as a human?

The next physics breakthrough? Discovered by AI independently.
The next big tech product? Imagined by AI.
The next bestselling book? Fully AI generated.
Add in robotics, and there goes all manual labor.
There is no place for humans in a future where intellectual work is automated alongside manual work.

This is our future. We have will have no meaningful work. We are approaching Wall-E levels of degeneracy. What are we supposed to even do as humans when all work is automated?

Either we somehow all live peaceful zero productivity utopian lives in heaven on earth while our AI overlords care for us, or we devolve into a debauched, degenerate society where we indulge excessively in pleasures and live meaningless, aimless existences. I think the latter is more likely. Why are we not more afraid of this future?

I saw that tweet too. It's pretty scary how unregulated the major AI labs are. As someone involved in tech it's genuinely baffling to see AI improve exponentially every month yet have almost zero safety guardrails. AI has so much potential to end the world or create dystopia.

I don't think thats ever going to happen. The price of maintaining these ai are something you need to factor in. All ai companies right now are just artificially pumping up their prices only a matter of fact before they fall from grace.

We are going to have the next biggest financial crises before 2030 and thats the scariest part nobody is accounting for

Correct, you can't really "make" an artifically intelligent body till we actually understand how our own brains work. Till we find life on another planet, our brain is still the most complicated thing we know about. Things like metacognition, emotional effects on the body are so complex, I'm surprised we just take our brain's abilities for granted. These models process very simple things and still require so many resources, I really don't think the fall of AI is far.

income is something we invented on the basis of human work being necessary
its compensation for value provided in work
there is a concept called universal basic income in utopian society, where everyone is allocated a baseline income for living life, irrespective of work being a thing
humans are hedonistic already to different degrees, not sure how it is possible you think its a zero percent chance

Yes, it is the future, but I don't agree with what all you said about the breakthroughs. As of now, AI still acts like a huge encyclopedia of INFORMATION (not knowledge), and you can ask it something and it'll find a relevant answer. It's not "thinking" by itself and just acts like a really advanced search engine

As for the generation part, it just fuses a couple of known things to make something "new". In my experience, all times I've tried generating AI images for experimentation, there's always something picked directly from an art style, there's nothing new. Human creativity still prevails

However, I have a strong opinion that critical thinking (or thinking in general) becomes a rare skill as many people today tend to indulge in superficial stuff and not really think for themselves (AI image trends, flexing off, etc). People will have meaningful work, because AI isn't really all that. Shit can't process a regular "Hello" without frying off your token usage. However, AI will automate so much of the monotonous tasks that people who feed off doing really basic tasks would need to skill up. And their thinking skills would be so fried that it becomes next-to-impossible for them to do so

Generative AI isn't art, it's stealing, there won't be an AI able to express human art like we do for many reasons. We don't need AI to automatize production lines, we have robots already doing it, in fact we could've invested sooner to do things like that. Concretly in an utopia, we could let robots do all the necessary work for us to survive whereas we could do the other jobs while working a less amount of time and focus on our hobbies, things such as art. The thing is that, rich people won't invest in that kind of utipia, because if we were to stop working, they couldn't control us and make profit through what we do, because society is like a pyramid of social classes, people that can invest only serve their interests and would never exchange their privilege for an utopia where anyone could be free.

AI is just a flashy thing that interest billionaires who think they can use it to make profit by making it something we're dependant of

Yes! I think capitalism would break down the moment something like UBI gets introduced. AI should, and will, replace the people working in hazardous conditions and doing manufacturing tasks. Companies are just trying to minimize human wages and introduce AI to increase their profit margins, but they'll eventually realize AI was far worse for them and rehire the human workforce.

Though I strongly believe the rich are trying to fry the human thinking capacity so they don't need to pay much money to this workforce and can make them do low quality work. And the ones who DO think well and have good skills (which will become rarer with passing time), the rich will just join hands with them.

Once this bubble pops, AI will actually begin to do what it was intended for: aiding humans. Self-driving cars, organization of stuff, etc. will be done by AI. All creative tasks will be done by humans, AI acts like a helper to fix the small problems that appear in a solution.

As it stands, AI’s limitations are what humans know. Ask it to give you intstructions to build something humans don’t know how to make, like a time machine, it won’t give you them because it doesn’t know

most sota models are not very good at constructing new problem search spaces past synthesis of already existent knowledge (none of the problems solved are evidence to the contrary) so no I don't think the next physics breakthroughs are fully automated
