Deadass 99% of us were in agreement that EWC was Mickey but now 100T won and suddenly it’s equivalent of masters⁉️

You’re getting downvoted for the truth. It’s obvious they prepped more for London than ewc, and the fact that a lot of other teams most likely did this too devalues the importance of it
I always think it’s stupid when people call it a Mikey just because it’s not a riot event, it’s still the same teams there and they play for more money if anything it goes champs, ewc, then masters
its not mickey only tier 1 team and the player made almost 100k based on the win
it's just 100T and NRG propaganda that you're seeing, it's still just as mickey as last year, if not even more cause last year we had Fnatic, Heretics and PRX in the top 3.
scheduling makes it basically a tournament to see who's the best team that didn't attend/didn't go deep at masters 2
If people have to argue that ewc is equal to masters or not then it simply isnt. The fact that everyone cant agree its not a major tournament means its not a major tournament lol. No one batted an eye when nongshim won masters and said that santiago is a mickey. And nongshim is a less relevant org than 100t
people are just happy for the 100T fan base getting a win after soo longgg
especially Cryo.... his happiness lifting the trophy was enough for me to call the event valid
it's a real tournament. But it's an off season tournament like it or not.
it doesn't happen during the actual circuit
Riot does not give out the trophy, saudi arabia does.
there is no real risk to losing EWC whereas in VCT you've got to perform very well or be relegated and/or not go to masters/champs.
Yes it's 2mill, yes that's a lot of money, yes that's money worth trying for no matter where it came from, but it's not a masters trophy, it's not a Champs trophy, It's an off season trophy.
It's not a mickey, good teams are there, but it's an off season tournament, just like SEN city classic, SEN invitational, Ludwig/Tarik, and EMEA clash just with more money and teams. Winning/Losing this doesn't decide your fate as an org, Winning/Losing this doesn't decide what players are good and what players are bad. Because you get more fame, more recognition, more favor with riot which means more than that 2mill over time, by winning a masters/Champs. It doesn't MATTER. It's a cracked tournament with amazing players and teams, but theres nothing really on the line here aside from a big prize pool.
How good/bad a team does here does not show how they will perform against teams in the actual VCT circuit. Because like it or not theres a reason to not try as hard since this tournament is not correlated with riot whatsoever aside from the game itself. That's why you see EDG throwing signed into the tournament, or using a full team of academy players. That's why G2 let shackkk play for leaf instead of finding an actual sub, because win or lose nothing happens to your org. Theres no RISK to it.
I'm a 100T fan but it's like tier 1.5 in my book, I feel like I've been fairly consistent in that. Even putting aside my own personal objections to the tournament, it's fairly clear that most of the top tier masters winners weren't taking it nearly as seriously as they would an actual VCT event like LEV, PRX, G2, and EDG
It’s a Mickey Mouse in terms of its prestige, but I think it can matter for teams to try new things, or for them to just grow overall (100T). We’ve seen how that worked for heretics but it’s a small sample size right now
