Depends on what criteria you're basing it off of, Faker is much more dominant to his own game than Messi is, but Messi has been doing it much longer and in a more competitive environment (amount of football pro players and league scenes far outweigh LoL). Messi also a much bigger name than Faker globally.
Really apples to oranges, probably an easier comparison would be Lebron to Messi.

Esports player lifespan is shorter only cause esports itself is very young lol. And We have seen multiple pros with longevity of faker in other esports that have lasted as long as league or cs tbh.
Never ever compare esports with sports especially top sports like football. If esports can become as big as sports globally we would for sure see multiple faker level pros in different types of games like we see in sports. For now esports is just not as accessible and widespread. It's still very niche.

unlike traditional sports, the game meta usually changes WAY faster (unless you are playing cs), meaning you are constantly forced into a state of adaptation to keep pace, which leads to higher burnout rates or a general failure to keep up to the changing game state
while traditional athletes train extremely hard, they have physical limits on their bodies on how much they should be training (a few hours of intensity) before it becomes harmful to keep going. in esports, you can train or grind 10+ hours every day with no real physical limit other than your own willpower, and pros do this regularly at the top level. it is much easier to burn out mentally by overtraining in esports compared to traditional sports
replacement pressure for veterans is much higher in esports. for example, in basketball, baseball, or football, a veteran can decline in one area but still extend their career by changing role, playing fewer minutes, becoming a rotation player, etc. there are plenty of roster spots available, and there is much less pressure to replace you as a result. In esports, the second some cracked out young talent comes out of tier 2, you are likely getting replaced as soon as possible on the starting 5. bench players don't get any playtime 99 percent of the time, and the short career lengths rarely justify keeping you for leadership and experience, plus the new kid is better adapted to the newer state of the game than you are.

Faker is more dominant in his respective sport than Messi; however, a lot of it is because the league is a very young game compared to football. Both are incredibly talented, both players had insane peaks, both have unbreakable records, both won everything that you can imagine, and both have played for a long ass time. I will say, I would give it to Messi because I think that there won't be another player like Messi. Without any bias, we can't be so sure if there will be anything like a faker again. It's still a young sport, and anyone who has actually followed the esport at least at a mediocre level will know that Faker hasn't been the best player on his team for quite some time. The T1 roster literally has 2 players that are arguably the goats of their role (Oner and Keria), they had the greatest weakside botlaner of all time, a will be GOAT for another role (zeus), and Doran. Like faker is the most decorated player in league history, but he wasn't consistently the best player on that team for his last 3 worlds. The vast majority of messi's acomplishments club or national team related have been on the back of himself for the most part.
