why would anyone want to host a tournament when everyone just calls it mickey mouse?

no we won't lmao. next years format still has the same problem for 3rd parties that the current one does, theres no incentive.
why would Blast, ESL, PGL or any other organizer want to run a tournament that will just inherently be pointless compared to a Masters or Champs. why would anyone want to host a tournament when none of the teams will take it seriously or even attend, and none of the fans will watch and just write off as "mickey mouse". The only way any 3rd party tournaments will get an sort of traction is if they have ridiculously high prize pools ($1m+), or Riot allows Champs points to be involved.
Fans would take it seriously overtime if it’s consistent, the only problem people have with ewc is the Saudi stuff
Its not even just EWC. Offseason tournaments like Redbull Homeground or SOOP are routinely mocked by both the fans and teams themselves. Why would anyone bother to host something in Valorant if this is the culture thats already been established?
the reason ppl call EWC mickey is because the format was dogshit, the event wasnt played on lan (even the different stages had different ping) AND then cause ppl hate EWC on a political level, if blast ran an event and it wasnt shit ppl wouldnt call it micket lmao
blast and pgl are confirmed TOs for next year. the point of an open circuit is for more tournaments and so masters aren’t the only big tournaments. why would teams not take tournaments seriously at all, it makes no fucking sense
blast and pgl haven't been confirmed for anything other then VCT events. The circuit being open just means any team can qualify to VCT events, it does NOT mean we're going to be getting any other tournaments. Teams wont take tournaments seriously for the exact reason I just said, they won't be part of the official "VCT" circuit. The only tournaments that matter are Masters and Champions, and the Cups that qualify teams to them.
You are completely misunderstanding whats going on here. Riot is not in disscusion with these organizers so that they can run their own tournaments alongside VCT, they are in disscusion to run VCT itself.
Blast isn't trying to host a "3rd Party Tournament", they are trying to be the ones in charge of running 1 (or more) of the VCT "Cups" next year. It could end up with BLAST running the EMEA Cup while PGL does Pacific and ESL does Americas or some shit. This doesn't mean we'll be getting any new tournaments other then the 2 Masters, Champions and the respective Kickoff + Cups to qualify for them.
Besides, my main point here is the fact that VCT is one big circuit means that nothing outside of Masters or Champions will matter to teams. Sure, 3rd parties CAN run their own tournaments, but unless theres a shit load of money involved or they award Champs points, nobody will actually take it seriously.

They aren't letting Blast for example completely host EMEA for an entire year(s), but they will allow them to host a Cup and then let another organizer run the next one.
there should be a big tournament every month. less time scrimming more time playing
disagree. it would just make internationals feel like regionals and way less important and rare. next year format is good we just need 4-5 open qualifiers a split on a point-based system and its great
idk i see that side of the argument but it feels like we can't have storylines / dynasties like they can have in CS because tournaments are so few and far between
i dont want valorant to be like cs i want it to be its own thing. if i wanted to watch cs i would go watch cs

i can see blast doing smaller scale 3rd party events in the future, maybe if they go well they'll go bigger.
Having less events makes them worth more.

I cant even remember the last winner of ESL pro league, but i can name every winner in vct
