Would need to go full third party for us to be on the level of CS which Riot will sadly never do

It's not incompatible. You can make franchise AND everything being a tournament. before Faria's annoucement it was my proposition :

  • Cups with 16 teams (10 partner, 6 T2 winner)
  • Open qualifier in T2, with the top 1 per T2 region (scrimpool) qualify into tier 1

Franchise era suffered from low competitiveness due to teams already being guaranteed franchising, I really think the tournament system is going to be better, more teams will actually be pressured into doing something instead of staying 'okay'

I mean just the concept of having potentially more matches to watch per year gets me on board, I missed 2021 where it felt like I was able to watch 3-4 high quality games that meant something every day for 2-3 weeks at a time, made me more excited to turn up and watch matches compared to group stage matches.

only problem with tournaments is the logistics honestly.

I am definitely going to miss the freedom that franchising had, and I think there are going to be a lot of visa issues that will really suck. I also am a bit worried that these tournaments will have shitty formats but that can hopefully be avoided. Otherwise I'm excited for more tournaments.
