Why is Boaster rated so highly?

Genuine question.
I have been watching VCT for a few weeks now, and I see a lot of posts on VLR that are in the vein of "They [FNC] will never remove Boaster from their team". Why? I actually really like Boaster as a personality, but I don't think (or atleast understand) why he is rated so highly.

First of all, even without looking at his stats, he has Kajaak, Veqaj and Crashies on his team. Not only are they the best aimers in his team, but probably top 5 in the world, alongside people like yay and TenZ. But when you look at his stats and gameplay, it gets worse.

He has some of the worst movement in the game. His counter strafing is pretty subpar, he has some of the most egregious jump peeking I have seen, and his movement during shooting is just not it. I mean, these mechanical errors can be overlooked because he seems to usually play more anchor agents like Astra or Brimstone, but then you come to his shooting, which is arguably even worse. His crosshair placement is usually around the knee or pelvis area (if we are being generous), his headshot percentage is usually below 30, his first bullet accuracy... is pretty much non-existent (except for one gun which... I will get back to), and his spray control is... well, I guess it is there. Don't get me wrong, he is definitely a decent player, but in a roster like FNC, how is he the most valuable player?
I also see a lot of mentions of his utility plays, but I'll be honest while his utility is pretty decent, it's not like it swings rounds in their way or anything. Does he have any connections with FNC and/or Riot games? I see him a lot with Yinsu from the desk, I assume they are affiliated in some way?

On top of that I have a huge issue with his roles. He seems to be a perma-smokes player with a little bit of breach sprinkled in. I think that's the worst role for him, and I'll explain why.
You look at some of his most high impact games, his most round swinging frags. It could be a massive buy round, or a do-or-die Overtime on Bind. You know what I am getting at - This guy has some of the highest impact when he is on the AWP. His peeks are not the best but his angle holding and micro flicks are next to none. Why then is he forced to play agents that require constant utility cycling, like Astra?
To me, it feels like a coaching problem. IMO Boaster should be on Chamber as many maps as possible, to get the most value out of his fragging, and their sentinel should switch over to smokes to adjust for that.

He's a good IGL (there aren't any good replacements in EMEA)

And also almost every great player that left him is now turbowashed

i aint reading allat

but what he doesn’t have in stats, he makes up for with his mind. he is an actual mastermind no exaggeration. he was able to take an average player from gentle mates (one of the better ones albeit), who were one of the worst teams of 2025 and make him an actual good player, to substitute in for Chronicle. when Leo, who in his prime was one of the best players of all time, was unable to play for 2025, he took a washed up crashies and made him a good player again

Another day, another critic post on Boaster. It has become tiring now. Happy to see not many people are bothered to read all that.
Everybody knows who Boaster is and what value he brings to the team.
Please pick another topic. It's becoming boring now.

Real response since I actually read it:

His stats are pretty bad, but it is undeniable that in terms of IGLing he is the best in the world
Since basically the beginning of valorant, he has led FNC consistently to top finishes in international tournaments
His teammates are all insane, but boaster is also constantly setting them up for success, micromanaging their positioning, movements, and utility throughout rounds to an extent that most IGLs do not do.
Look at superstar players like chronicle and derke after they leave FNC. They are playing with statistically better players on VIT than boaster, but their results are looking to be worse this stage than FNC's results. Calling matters in tacfps, stats only tell part of the picture.

Boaster mechanically is honestly not as bad as people say, but but he is not anywhere good enough to be a chamber player in these lobbies. His aim is not as good as you think, but it is better than a lot of people say. First of all, chamber is an agent where you need to hard focus on your own gameplay, especially when holding angles and lurking, which means you cannot comfortably IGL with high levels of control like boaster does. Secondly, controllers inherently play low risk positions so they can drop smokes safely for their teammates, which means that boaster can IGL from a safe location in the backline.

You are clearly new to VCT, since you think this iteration of FNC has 3 top 5 aimers itw. Maybe kaajak is the only argument for being a top 5 aimer. Crashies and Veqaj are good players of course, but there are still statistically better players everywhere you look. This version of FNC is worse than previous years on an individual level overall, yet FNC under boaster's leadership are still finding ways to be successful, under changing rosters, metas, and across years. This level of consistent success is why he is considered the greatest IGL of all time.

VIT has 2 FNC players, a academy player they had and their assistant coach ...., they can get alfa and leo back and i still think Boaster would win vs them ......

I hope Boaster plays in the ENC and we see what he can do. He's a good IGL, but lately he's been getting unnecessary hype

He's simply the greatest IGL in the game so far...his stats may seem bad but his calls are immaculate...he has been consistently at the top since the beginning with multiple rosters and different metas...

as you said, you are a new player to vct. To sum it up, he is the greatest IGL the game has seen so far, and yes he does have good teammates but everytime those good teammates leave fnc and go to a team like VIT who has better players aim wise, they end up doing worse since tactically they arent set up well like how boaster does. And to your chamber comment, in the most polite way is dumb... the role of chamber in competitive games is to essentially be a solo player and focus alot on yourself and getting picks. If boasters plays chamber he will just add less value since he cant focus on doing his main job which is calling. Also, your kinda downplaying his mechanics. Yes he isnt the best mechanically but he can still get good value out of it and he has his moments.

There are tangible and intangible impact frok player, who you see from his stats is just tangible impact. His intangible impact come from his skill as IGL.

hoping this was a genuine post from a new viewer, i'm answering that way.

his igling regularly leaves other teams with their pants down and its been repeatedly proven that working under him on fnatic has made players perform like 10x better. he also is kind of the mastermind behind all of that team, an excellent motivator and team-builder, and essentially an additional member of the coaching staff on top of being a player with his involvement in strategy. essentially, he is the greatest of all time in almost every way that isn't shown statistically, so the fact that he's one of the worst of all time on the leaderboard is more than compensated for. he can win with anyone and he lifts up whole rosters around him.

Get back to this post when kaajak, veqaj, crashies or alfajer leave fnatic and finish a season elsewhere, you will have your answer.

consistent across multiple metas which is very hard for IGLs to do, you could even see now that they’re frying even despite the meta trending towards double duelist. yes he’s bad mechanically but he makes up for it with his great calling and intangibles being the best at setting his players up for success in EMEA and possibly itw

He's undoubtedly the greatest IGL ever which is incredibly valuable in a place like EMEA where it's pretty difficult to find good IGLs
Able to adapt to multiple metas across different iterations of teams
He makes people he works with look better and vice versa (look at how Chron and Derke have fallen off compared to when they were with Boaster)
