I just finished watching it for the first time (I watched 6 episodes yesterday and then binged the other 16 today lmao) and I bawled my eyes out for twenty minutes when it ended, not to mention the countless times it made me cry throughout. It was absolutely one of the most beautiful stories I've ever seen.

10/10 cried until I felt numb and I will absolutely watch it again, this was on the same level as A Silent Voice and Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day to me

Hello PluMelody or should i say m'lady????
You are right men's mental health shouldn't be taken lightly.
I apologize.
I suggest reading "the summer you were there" very similar to ylia.

I recommend A Silent Voice if you haven't watched it yet. One of the best movie I've watched, probably cried twice, it's simply beautiful in every aspect yet I can't bear to re watch it.

I've watched A Silent Voice 3 times and I will watch it again it the future, it's also too beautiful

To me it's one of those movies that's so good yet hard to watch again, like Grave of the Fireflies. It's beautiful but my heart don't wanna to feel like shit again.

That shit gave me trauma bruh, i genuinely thought the ending wasn't that even though it was foreshadowed the whole time.

I watched it back in 2018-19 iirc and ive literally not watched it again cause it was too memorable that every time i tried to re-watch id just get annoyed.

Unfortunately I already knew what the ending was gonna be because I learned about the anime through youtube shorts, but I knew I had to have the experience for myself. It was so sad and beautiful and traumatizing and I loved every moment of it

I am fully convinced that naoshi arakawa was in his sadist phase when he wrote the second half like tf you mean he felt the need to kill off the cat too

#15

It wasn't necessary but it definitely was foreshadowing that there was going to be nothing he could do to change what was going to happen

Yeah I remember watching this when it first release. The tension of waiting for the next episode makes it even harder to watch.

Also the ending reminds me a lot of this mandopop song called tong hua (fairy tale) music video.

If you enjoyed that series, try watching the movie titled "I want to eat your Pancreas", almost as good as YLIA

That movie is on my list too! I'm really looking forward to watching it!! If you haven't seen Anohana, one of the other ones I mentioned in my original post I highly recommend that one too!!

P.S. I've been rooting for you guys since before Toronto thanks to TMV lmao, I know you guys have it in you to cook some shit up and come back strong for Stage 2

#45

its overrated.... its really good but not as much as people hype it up to be
A silent voice is better and deeper
many other anime movies and series are better and more emotional

its still pretty good..no offence
i enjoyed it too

I'm a musician myself too so some of the themes in YLIA really ended up hitting home for me, but A Silent Voice is absolutely amazing too

#47
Pototo

Frags

oh i wasnt talking about the music, music in YLIA is absolutely elite and one of the bestttt out there no doubt
i was talking about the whole emotional and sad ending trope... ive seen other anime that did it better thats all
music wise YLIA is easily S-tier

#48
PluMelody

I didn't mean themes as in the actual music, I meant that the music related plot themes really also made me feel a type of way, I understood all of Kousei and Kaori's feelings of being up on stage and I really felt for Kousei with how scared he was
