i dont rlly see it being a cs style 20+ year game but i also dont think itll abruptly die
i think itll slowly bleed players kinda like apex where theres no massive falloff but still a gradual decline

2027 is gonna kill it with the format, 2028 will probably be very dead already
what does format matter when 95% of the playerbase has never watched a vct game
will end up with a decent regular playerbase and not many new players, as they keep adding agents and required knowledge goes up
but unlike something like league, the barrier of entry for fps games is much higher and more discouraging
VAL as a game is still way more popular than most of the fps titles. CS including. It's just the eSports scene that has seen a decline. Half of it is riot's fault and half of is orgs' because of the inconsistencies of the game and teams. Now whether it's the orga that can't keep up or the players, that can't keep up with time, it's a problem. Teams come and go so easily people can't keep up with most of it. Imagine if the same faces stick to the same team, it wouldn't have been a problem.
i feel like the numbers may just either die or just plateau in the west but in asia its still gonna thrive. Just like LOL for example.
Tetris last 40 years so I think Val will do just fine. They will last as long as they want until they don't.
valorant isn't ever gonna really die. its too big to fail. literally. but it defintely will lose a lot of viewers as time goes on.
as long as j0nggg is still playing the statpadders will get so much viewership
