I watched that movie, I feel like the msg of the story was good. only the last scene was beautiful, but no way that movie deserved oscar over dune 2. that speech from lisan al gaib sent shivers down my spine

ironically Dune 2 is more of a tiktok movie than Anora. Anora is actually better than you think, this is coming from a Dune fan and someone who also believes Dune 2 should have swept the Oscars.

the plot isn't exactly a masterclass in worldbuilding but they are two different movies, both with great execution and interesting themes and perspectives in the story they want to tell.
scale isn't everything. in fact, i would argue that the human element that is quite present in Anora is actually somewhat lost in movies like Dune, where the grand nature of the narrative doesn't have space for it. Not to say that Dune is worse than Anora, simply different.
I doubt someone could come up with the story to Avengers: Infinity War, but a movie with a simpler plot like The Breakfast Club tells a more interesting story.

as I said, the msg was beautiful, but the movie was not interesting, it was just sex, then screaming and in the end the beautiful moment, at which point I was sold. But I do think dune was more entertaining throughout the movie.

Very big spoilers ahead
Aragorn is the leader of the Rangers of the North, he is of the line of Isildur, who was the son of Elendil, where they founded Gondor and Arnor long long ago, then the sword that was broken, was Elendil's sword, Narsil, that was broken when he fought against Sauron. Basically Gondor is very weak, in decline, Arnor is lost, Sauron is massing his troops for total domination of Middle Earth, until Aragorn fights, and Frodo destroys the ring, then becomes the king of both Arnor and Gondor.

I had to summarise it, I could explain it well enough in 3 fairly sized paragraphs but I just gave you the essential info.
Not all who wander are lost is a reference to him being a ranger, wandering around in the North. Arnor was a kingdom that was destroyed by Saurons right hand man, so their crown was metaphorically broken.
A light, referring to him, shall spring from the shadows, basically unassuming and unknown, referring to the fact how Sauron doesn't know Isildurs heir is still alive, thinking they are dead.
In the book, the sword Narsil is reforged, becoming Anduril, used by Aragorn.
Personally I don't go to watch movies that have explicit sexual content, so it doesn't apply to me or many other people who do the same.

What if I don't appreciate how it uses Uzbek, albeit Uzbek-American, in this movie. The plot sounds like the Russian stereotype of Central Asian immigrants, with the Russian being high status, and the Central Asian being discriminated against and being low status.
Thats the entire point of the critique inside it so im not sure what is the problem here. The russians are the villains in the story and are treated as such. Theres not a single moment in the entire movie where its even implied they are doing something right

Russians are still perceived as high status, with lots of money and power, still doesn't change my point, and how Central Asians are perceived as poor and uncivilised, which can be perceived as her being a prostitute
