What’s all the hype with her? Americans win gold all the time no problem so I’m curious.

+1 to that question
My sister is her self proclaimed biggest fan and I have no idea who she is
First American woman to win Gold in figure skating in 24 years. Alyssa Liu did it with a level of joy that's difficult to show when competing at the highest level. People just generally like her vibe, aesthetic, her uniquely dyed hair.
last time an american woman won gold in figure skating was in 2002
obv people will be hyped with a long wait finally being over
tbf people can have preferences and what is attractive to some may not be the same to others
shes speaks her mind about human rights in public all of the time + ppl in america is mad that eileen gu is representing china instead of the country she grew up in + im pretty sure she rejected the offer from china to represent them + young ppl like her bc she watches anime idk
Dunno why you're getting downvoted (maybe the human rights mention, but it's what makes Alyssa Liu more relatable to the younger generation). The dichotomy of attention between Eileen Gu and Alyssa Liu is crazy since both are young athletes representing the country they wanted to. Eileen's intentions are definitely more monetary, but she is literally a brand icon in China for health and wellbeing products - if you were offered a generational amount of money and perhaps a lasting image in a market of products, would you refuse it?
Im not too aware of the situation but I heard a lot of people dont like Eileen Gu becuase she has a bit of a god complex right? I mean it kinda makes sense when u look at the shit shes dont for her age(on top of that she rlly good looking)
I've not heard anything about a God complex. Most people just cite how she represents China for the money. I think the issue you might be on to though is that she tries to act like she represented China for national integrity rather than financial gain. It's disingenuous of her if that's how she is acting.
Also, she is critical of USA and not that critical if at all of China .
It’s just the fact that she’s representing China.
Which is a questionable choice.
Is it justified to hate? Not really tbh
But I get where it’s coming from
I mean, it's not questionable if she truly wanted to represent China for integrity reasons, but she uses this as a front when she is mostly if not entirely in it for the money. People going on about how she is a traitor feel a bit silly since it's just for the Olympics. It's not a war.
its MindGoblin1 and forklift2’s wife. they have some weird ass poly relationship going on i wouldn’t look into it
i lowkey dk but there were some people tweeting some really disgusting stuff about her
From my pov, she’s the first person who made skating look fun to me. It looked like she was just out there living life and that was entertaining for me. Other than that I don’t really care LOL
so apparently her dad spent like way too much to make her a good skater she focused her life on skating, then retires primarily to find her identity, found it but missed ice skating so she comes back after like a 2 year break or sum shit and she wins a gold
She's like pink pantheress good personality plus good at what she does. Valo pros can learn from them to be liked you need to aura farm you just gotta be chill
she looks good, has a nice personality and has fun with her sport. also got caught up in a cultural war which significantly bumped her popularity
nobody knows... anyways ppl will go back to forgetting who she is in a month
She is basically the most popular representative of the average young alt person living in california.
Also she showed the message that you don't have to be a robotic person being obsessed with becoming the best in order to succeed, she retired for years and still came back to win gold in her first try while having fun and being entertaining.
amazing figure skater, not afraid to speak out on things, and just a W bi zoomer
