Call me a cornball, I don't care
If I wanted to go pro, what would be the best steps/path to take.
I know this is unrealistic, but I don't care. I'm Bronze 2, peak Silver 2, here is my tracker: https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/Reflex%23VLR/overview?platform=pc&playlist=competitive&season=3ea2b318-423b-cf86-25da-7cbb0eefbe2d

I need advice such as:

  • How to improve my K/D
  • What agent(s) to play
  • How to improve my win %

-DM a few times a day even if you're not going to play ranked
-Play duelist or senti. Something where you can just focus on shooting instead of util
-Do your best to solo carry

#3
troy

Frags

Yeah I definitely should play more DM's

And what duelists do you advise? I think solo carrying with Senti is hard and I play solo like 90% of the time.

Neon, phoenix, yoru are all pretty self-sufficient duelists with ok util IMO

Yeah my tracker tells the story but Yoru's my favorite agent. The friend I play with the most is Phx only so I probably shouldn't main him

If you want to go pro, its best to play solo.

solo to go pro duo to rank up

anything where you don't need a lot of setup to work, so reyna/jett/waylay/raze

Clove also works because she's self sufficient and she has the added benefit of smokes that you can use for yourself

not true

at 16 ima be real it's not worth it. you can play to get better but going pro isn't worth it

most 16 year olds who will be going pro are already immo/radiant or in t2/academy teams and that will not change

you're right, I'm just gonna play to improve/have fun, i'm 16 bro its too late

it's not too late, but you shouldn't have the mindset of i WILL turn pro. its possible, unlikely, but possible

its for the best man, esports players do not make enough money to justify the hours they put in. why put 10k hours in for a career that lasts on average less than 5 years when you can put less hours into a degree? to make more stable money

#40
Badger8424

its fine to play with the goal of going pro but just focus on radiant first, no one goes pro without getting at LEAST top 10 radiant at some point, never put your all of your eggs in one basket, still focus on school and what youll want to do in the future. I hope you do get radiant and go pro but just be realistic

just because you cant go pro doesnt mean you cant get a job in esports btw, there are still coach/analyst/broadcast talent/ journalism jobs you can get in order to be close to the scene that dont require otherwordly talent and literal thousands of hours to achieve

#48

yes but you dont need to be the level of current top-level pros, you need to be better to justify replacing them. Not to mention there will be new cracked young talents every year

#53

true but its like saying more than a few ceo's never went to college, its possible but unlikely, esports is just like any other job, get things to put on your resume, and top 10 radiant is something to put on there when you have nothing

every single tier 1 pro player can hit radiant using reyna only. Yes, even boaster. the gap between pros (top radiants) and even low radiants/high immo 3 is massive

boaster cannot, his tracker is absolute ass he gets diffed in asc lobbies
has around 500 tracker score

#38

yes he can ofc, but he cannot go radiant on reyna alone as the op said

he is immo 200rr rn with 300 tracker score with 0.9 kd

#36
Vyantic

Frags

Yeah i know, the gap betweek 1k Rad to 450 is massive levels but that's just because ranked is just aim demons, but being pro takes a bit more than just being a reyna top 500 aim demon if you ask me.

#41
nooomy
0
Frags
+

no no, im not saying getting to reyna on mechs alone will make him turn pro. Getting to radiant on mechs only is the BEGINNING to him going pro. It is purely the mechanical foundation to all the other stuff he needs to have to go pro

#44
Vyantic
0
Frags
+

I get you, yeah i agree to a fundamental level the first step you need to take is to be really good at a mechanical level but that doesn't require playing Reyna only, it only makes it easier.

#22
troy
0
Frags
+

does reyna not build bad habits tho?

#26
Castawaytwizz

absolute most important thing to learn is winning fights, forcing duelist means you take more fights and in the long run will improve faster

#27
nooomy

reyna is a pure mechanics agent, if you cannot make it to radiant using mechanics only you stand no chance of ever going pro, I promise you

that shouldnt be ur main focus get out of bronze buddy bait if u need to
then when u get into some real elo actually try to coordinate w team but at the end of the day ranked is almost all aim no brain chamber jett clove and reyna one tricks

Hmm, it doesn't seem like you have bad stats.

It's hard to tell you just looking at this what you would need to improve, seems like you're being traded or you look to trade every time someone dies in your team or you die which a good indicator to win rounds but your agent pool is all over the place. You need to focus on an agent or two and a role where you feel comfortable.

First thing is mental and consistency, if you want to go pro you can't think it's an unachieveable thing, nor let someone talk you down on that goal because that's not how you forge a path to success, also playing just 2 or 3 matches a day is not good to climb if you're just playing, if you gonna play 2 or 3 matches a day you need to study what you did wrong in those ones and see how you can improve in order to make those 3 matches count as much as possible.

#12
mszzz
4
Frags
+

respectfully should be obvious but get consistent radiant for a couple acts first... climb till dia should be pretty easy by just one tricking jett/reyna

#15
tv0rusluke
0
Frags
+

actual serious path
get a duo to play ranked with, you will learn to synergize and eventually be good enough to win with 2 of you dominating
get a coach potatoes playbook
search for good aimlabs playlists to aim train
start playing premier (the most straight forward path to track your progress and actually go pro)
most importantly, keep playing and be open to learn new things

this could take years depends how fast ur learning aptitude is considering ur bronze

Most people here say getting to radiant is a step, but one of the most important things you'll need to go pro is connections. Streaming + getting engagement is one of the best ways to make people know who you are. You can be incredibly good, but if you're not popular then you're not going to go places.

Get radiant or immortal, try to join t3 teams and compete in any tournament you can, and try to get your name known while you're doing so. Obviously, the first step would be to get a better rank, or maybe post on youtube or something to get some people to at least know your name.

  1. How old are you
  2. How much are you willing to dedicate yourself in the game
  3. How much money are you willing to spend on a good pc setup
#56
troy
0
Frags
+
  1. 16
  2. I will put in however much time is needed, I have too much time on my hands right now
  3. Once I have a job, over 1k USD, right now I have a pretty cooked PC, but good enough to run the game at 200fps no frame skips, I have good internet, I have a Logitech G305 with a Razer Huntsman Mini and an Artisan mousepad, 165hz monitor

Focus on getting a job first then buying a REALLY good pc

Then once you get the pc look for an aimlabs playlist and do that as your warmup at the start of every session.

Grind ranked, play as much as you can, and you will start to develop positioning and mapwide crosshair placement

Watch VODS and develop decision making

I’d have no clue who you actually enjoy playing but Reyna Jett Omen Cypher Sova all can carry games on their own

I enjoy Yoru a lot, but I've been told to play Reyna more times than the number of posts I've made.

Demands too much communication on attack tbh, especially with the ult nerf earlier

If you want to be a pro, remember: You are playing the long game, it doesn't matter if your winrate is 30% now if your K/D is trash, with the time you will get better, and eventually grind into being a pro, believe in yourself. the present doesn't matter, what you build for the future does. think big.

For now prioritize DMS over ranked, you gain nothing playing ranked in low elo, its a slower version of DM with no comms and terrible util usage, first get the basic, a good aim (don't forget to have good comms and util usage)

After you have a "decent aim" you should be around diamond -ascendant , then u dont have to focus so much on your aim. focus on your comms and util usage, what i used to do is record my matches, and after the match watch it and i HAD to ask my self everytime to everything i do "Why i am doing this? there's nothing better i could have done? How could i have noticed?" you dont need an insane aim to climb into immortal, i got immortal and my aim was on avarage the worst of the server, but i was flex and confident on my calls and skill usage, and made me get a high winrate, help your team.

Agent wise, you are thinking it wrong, if you want to be a pro you are playing the long game, it wont be in 3-6 months prob not even in 1-2 years to get you there. stop thinking "i should play this agent because he is meta" you should be open to play most of the agents of your role, if you are flex play with EVERYTHING, Sentinel, play with ALL sentinels, and so on. Don't get to attached to a single agent and become a single trick pony (like Yay) the meta changes, Yoru "was" the worst agent in the game, now he is one of the bests, if a agent is bad now in a year or less it can be the meta, be ready, and also you have to have a good notion on which agent is better in each map, and adjust to the comp of your team (don't instapick)

Dont bother with win% if you are going pro, you will climb, no matter how long it takes, looking at it only affects your mental positively or negativily, but it doesn't really matter

This is not a step by step. just because your focus now should be DMS it dont mean you should not pay attention to comms and util usage, If you get do immortal don't deny aim training. (oh and aim lab and those things are trash long term, it's only useful in the beggining, when your aim is terrible to learn how to use your mouse, nothing is better than practicing your aim in the game itself, then in another game "pretending" to be Val)

Most important: Dont be toxic, be nice, don't stream snipe, if you build a good reputation around you, becoming a pro will be infinitely easier. make connections, if you make a friend in a high ranked game, this guy might invite you to a team for example. Becoming a pro is only the consequence of your hard work. If you truly want it: You can. Believe in yourself and don't matter what the others says.

Stats doens't matter, Duos don't matter. Only you matter and your determination. It's not easy and that's why so few make it.
Good luck

allat

Thank you mean, read top to bottom
Two questions from this:

  1. How can I keep my mental good in these fuckass lobbies.
  2. Which agents should I main if I want to be a duelist main. If you want you could give me a map by map layout
#66
Just_Be
0
Frags

you can't control your lobbies, it's out of your control, sometime you will get trolls, the only thing you can control is yourself. and i like to think it with math: It's a 5v5 game, there are 4 people in your team (excluding you) and 5 in the other team, if you can guarantee you are not a troll the enemy team is always more likely to have a troll, in a long term climb, you will climb it doens't matter if you get a troll in a single game, the other team will always be more likely to have a troll. if you are not clibing, you are the troll, then focus on improving. remember, you are playing for the long term losing a match couldn't matter less.

honestly, i dont recommend having a main, but it's mostly personal preference, play with what you like. if you are playing with what you enjoy you are most likely to perform better. i wont be able to give you a map by map agents because i don't follow the meta nor play anymore, just watch pro scene, so you will have to discover it yourself playing.

mistakes are normal, don't get too frustrated with them, just focus on discovering what they are and fixing them
