once I got a PC in 2022, I totally forgot about buying a mousepad, so I decided to use a book as one for the longest time

i think its just important to have A mousepad with little friction, idk if leather has a lot of friction a lot

Yes, a bad mousepad can even make a $200 perform like shit.

a mousepad youd buy at the store is probably better than the piece of leather, but id say theres not that much difference between the mousepads themselves

yes but you have to also figure out which pad will suit you the best, a common example is glasspads are not good for valo/cs but I switched from saturn pro to the wallhack sp-004 and its the best I've felt in terms of raw aim

beyond it being good for your aim and shit, it just feels nicer to use
i had a horrible mousepad that was tiny and before that i used my desk itself

then i got a decent sized mousepad and my life has improved

But a bad player using a good mousepad won't make them good. Just like a good player will still be good on a bad mousepad. But finding the right one for you will help fix issues like shaky aim or help control flicks.

A lot of cs pros are switching from old steelseries qck moisepads to better Artisan mousepads, and they are usually resistant to change. They are much better quality and have better stopping power or smoother glide etc (depending on what you want/need)

just get something not cheap if u are a casual player, the difference between cheap mousepad and a 25 to 60-70 euro mousepad is insanely huge
over that range it really doesnt matter if u arent trying to go pro, and dont get a mousepad with no friction, they are so bad

Ofc but they are slightly overrated. As long as you get one that fits your preference let it be control or speed oriented. But outside of that its just more about quality and consistency. Overall the difference between A control pad and B control pad is minimal. I just got La Onda Pelz for 40 euros and it feels very similar to LGG Saturn that apparently feels very similar to Artisan Zero etc.

But in general proper mousepad is better than some piece of leather.
