Jett's main benefit. Her smoke gives her a little time after a dash to protect herself. Sure she can be sprayed and shit but its harder. That few seconds allows you to orient and attack on your terms. Waylay, doesn't, and if you dont dash properly its a literal one tap instantly.

nah, you'll waste your util if your team didn't follow up your entry.
With Jett, she can hold by herself with smoke (if possible then kill 2 and dash out).
With waylay, you're on your own if your team choose to become a bot and hold their util.(her rechargeable skill is her "tp", and you can't tp out)
The fact that you have zero explanations tells all we need to know
Waylay can do everything Jett can do except smoke + waylay gimmicks to get around the no smoke constraint. You just gotta watch ppl like wtfslump, canezerra and just see how they play. This take of jett being better is outdated, and the truth is waylay is one of those characters ppl call broken yet can't use her effectively so they bitch ab it.
the problem is jett is better as a solo duelist BECAUSE of that smoke, it allows you a chance to reposition and get entries in a way that waylay can’t
people have figured out that waylay is much better at paired with another duelist such as yoru or neon because she can simply dash in, find everyone, and refract out without having to take a fight so that the second duelist can do that
the argument isn’t that jett as a pure duelist is better, it is that’s she’s better as a SOLO duelist, which imo is true. waylay solo is sort of pointless
If waylay was not viable in ranked, people like cane, and slump couldn't do what they do, because guess what, even radiant players aren't coordinated enough to play waylay how they do in pro play. This is what I mean by people are bad at the character. People have more hours on jett, so they are more comfortable on her, that's all it comes down to.

This isn't pro play, you can't comp diff in ranked lol. Legit all that matters is if you can shoot back and if you're that pressed over util in ranked then you have different issues you need to address first
Jett is better on ascent and icebox
Breeze is unknown
Waylay is better on all other maps
Waylay is better by this metric but it is way more nuanced than this
