coldest take ever (but apparently VLR needs it)

T1 franchising preventing orgs having a real route to success from T2 is the problem with T2.

GC is not the problem with T2. They're entirely seperate parts of the ecosystem with entirely different goals.

Arguing otherwise already doesn't make sense and will make even less sense in the coming years as routes into T1 are reworked and improved.

In a world where a lack of safe and representative space for women and marginalized gender in esports, where even the CS2 counterpart's biggest tournament is being removed due to menial reasons, GC being the prevalent platform meant a lot for a people that has massive aspirations, but never had the chance nor the avenue.

Maybe you're too materialistic and close minded that you can't see it beyond pure gameplay and financials. Very basic of you.

its also just not true that the program hasnt produced results lol. the top gc teams are much more competitive to male teams + a gc player has gone to t1 + multiple gc players have played in t2

from riots pov tho more viewership in GC than in T2 so their "results" show otherwise.

  • they push GC tourneys way more than they do tier2 for marginal improvements on some metrics (hosting matches on main channel, main acc posting etc.)

  • the principal objective of the program is to produce t1 female talent. That's mostly failing, and while i do agree the ecosystem should be strong enough to enable that in some distant future, it's more than likely the esg program will become corrupted and never achieve its goals

  • Riot needs to rethink it's approach to GC as a conduit , not as a standalone system, is all I'm saying, I guess

They'll promote GC more due to it being seen as it's own system like others say. A lot of the fanbase for T1 still watches viewership ascension and it's stage playoffs for teams like ENVY or CUBERT blowing up last year which can be a reason for why their efforts for pushing it's tourney is lesser. It shows that despite the promotion it reaches people.

GCs goal yes is to make high tier talent. But also have goals to ensure a space for these groups of people a fair space that they can play in. Just because GC gets decent care of doesn't mean to take out funding or efforts towards it.

Don't get me wrong, tier 2 is getting treated like dogwater. I think improvements should be made definitely and is fact. Just not at an expense of GC. If we followed that same mindset wouldn't they just take more out from t2 to put back to t1 because t1 still has it's issue (tech pauses die to bad sponsor partner's org issues like koi and talon). Don't do an austerity move to solve an issue usually never works.

you said all that i was gonna say basically. it takes alot of time to improve in a system where you have a large disparity in skill, an example is china bcos EDG were stomping everyone in regionals and then they dont do the best on the international stage. but they needed to learn. until other teams started to go it meant they could learn what other regions are doing, getting the reps in etc. thats gonna happen to GC teams in T2 it just takes sm time to start from the bottom.

the principal objective of the program is to produce t1 female talent

Well t2 per its design, but the point that its not done much so far still stands. Couple of wins, but insignificant in the grand scheme.

Riot needs to rethink it's approach to GC as a conduit , not as a standalone system, is all I'm saying, I guess

They did. Thats why the change was made to invite GC teams into the t2 promotion tourneys and to make the GC circuit compatible with premier. Could do more, sure, but t3 is already unhappy so I wouldnt push it.
Itll never work till they make t2 a desirable product though. And that isnt the fault of GC, nor should it be a reason to also destroy GC.

Id go as far as to doubt that the budget youd get from fully cutting GC would be enough to "fix" even a single t2 sub region.
North//East has some of the best production in valorant... no one gives a fuck. People just dont care about watching a qualifier (t2) to a qualifier (emea stages) to a qualifier (ascension) to a qualifier (t1 groups) to a qualifier (t1 playoffs) to an international.
No advertisement would fix that.

I said this yesterday t2 would have way higher viewership if all the people who complain just watched it and eventually this would also lead to higher investment as well

This is a very cold take, i think half the valorant community has said this
